The five Tours are mostly moderately difficult but don’t underestimate them, especially in wet conditions. The paths are often very slippery and muddy. The climb to the summit of Le Morne Brabant is a demanding hike that requires sure-footedness and non-slip, sturdy hiking shoes. Rain showers can happen at any time in Mauritius, so always bring waterproofs and a rucksack cover.

Pack plenty of provisions and enough drinks, as you won’t find refreshments on the way. It’s important to hydrate regularly, as the warm, humid climate will make you sweat. Water plays an integral role in these hikes, which feature the Tamarin Falls, coast and ocean. The routes aren’t too long, with the shortest Tour just over 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and the longest at 15 kilometres (9 mi). They offer incredible opportunities for swimming in the pools of the waterfalls and time to enjoy the dreamy beaches and take photos. You can get to the starting points by rental car or taxi, which are reasonably priced.

When planning your Tour in Mauritius, note that it gets dark between 6 and 7 pm. Sunrise is between 5:30 am and 7 am due to its location in the southern hemisphere. The longest days are in the months from December to March, while the shortest are from June to September.
