Ostfriesische Inseln

The journey took place by bike to the lookout dune in the very east (Steerenk-Klipp). The loop to the east then on foot, about 9 km, I really liked it. Except for a few narrow stretches of beach a very wide landscape. The distance is difficult to capture in the photo.

A trip to the east end of Borkum, the (or the?) Hooge Hörn, is always an experience. Borkum has a lot to offer fans of vertical structures. A whole row of these towers, which are also very well suited for the orientation on the island, can be taken on a beautiful tour closer to inspect.

We haven't been to Norderney for over 20 years and the stays before that were all only for a few days. Therefore the island is more or less "new territory" for Uta and me.

The two viewing dunes are one of my favorite places on Baltrum. My first lap on Baltrum likes to go there, this time too.

The place Baltrum consists of three districts, the west village, the smaller east village and the even smaller old east village east of the cemetery. Se construyó un aeródromo militar al oeste de Langeoog durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero nunca se completó. Al final de la guerra, los aliados inutilizaron las superficies de hormigón y las pistas, es decir, las destruyeron parcialmente. Más tarde se plantó una arboleda en el sitio.

In sunny weather this morning I started my Wangerooge orbit. So it remained in the entire western part of the island. With dry shoes again today we went to the eastern end of the island, after I first visited the observation dune west of the village. Eastwards this time I took the path through the dunes, for me one of the most beautiful ways on Wangerooge.

Having set off in dry weather, it has drizzled most of the time on this little tour. It was still nice to meet a part of Wangerooge, which we have largely overlooked on our last island stay 5 years ago.
