Whoever thinks of the Ruhr area as the end of mining, structural change and the charm of the typical Ruhrpott German is of course right. But that's not all. As one of the largest European conurbations in the middle of Germany, the Ruhr area is full of variety and contrasts. It is endearing, worth living and charming in its own way. We have selected eight Tours for you, which are nothing more than the clear proof that the Pott is a wonderful place where you can cycle very well.
Our seven rides stand for the diversity of the Ruhr area. You cycle through the steel kitchen, past old blast furnaces and industrial areas, which today are inspiring landscape parks or industrial monuments. You follow the routes of former mine railways, on which coal used to be transported and which are now used as wonderfully quiet cycle paths through the green hinterland of the region. On the slag heaps of the Ruhr you can enjoy wonderful views, while on the cycle paths along the rivers, lakes and canals you can get to know the quiet and natural side of the metropolis. All this sums up perfectly the first Tour of this Collection: Our "Tryout" is a colorful cycle tour with everything that makes up the Ruhr area.
With every single Tour you can experience a beautiful day on the bike and discover the Ruhr area in peace. The possibilities are almost limitless and in addition to the well-developed network of cycle paths, the Pott also offers a range of cultural and culinary delights. It's easy to find suitable accommodation and thanks to the dense local transport network you can get anywhere without a car. In short: the Ruhr area is not only worth a day trip, but is also ideal for a longer cycling holiday.
