The Rhineland in Western Germany is known for its diverse landscape and culture. With unspoilt rivers and streams, the thriving cities of Cologne and Bonn, and the highest number of moated castles in Europe, there is plenty of nature and history to discover on your bicycle. The region boasts more than 3,000 kilometres (1,865 miles) of cycle paths which are based on Dutch and Belgian cycling networks. This makes it very easy for you to plan great Tours to suit you!
In this Collection, we give you an insight into the variety of cycling Tours in the Rhineland. From former railway routes through the Bergisches Land to the ADFC's (German Bicycle Club) three-star moated castle route, there is sure to be something for you. Some of the Tours are particularly family-friendly with little gradient and lots of variety to keep both the youngsters and adults happy. Some routes trace sections of long-distance cycle paths. You can find more information about these, including stage suggestions and accommodation, in other komoot Collections about cycling in the Rhineland.
You can easily reach all Tours with public transport so you can leave your car at home and avoid having to collect at the starting point of your adventure. En route, there are lots of inns and restaurants where you can try out regional specialities on a well-earned break. Bring plenty of water, your bike, and a camera, and you’re ready to go. Have fun!
