Investigating routes for my "Saudade Algarve" collection: these rides included many wrong turns, getting lost, hikeabike, cafe stops, and other adventurous fun :-)With one day riding with the awesome Fiona Hunter-Johnston of Echappée Portugal: she had all the inside info on the best cafe stops and most scenic hikeabike! And she offered great advice for the Via Algarviana - I've incorporated her route improvements into the Saudade Algarve collection.

Mostly glorious dirt roads, just the occasional crazy-steep or too-rocky section that’s unsuitable for anything but a MTB. Also The Valley Of Despair with 4 river crossings and ridiculous steep narrow hikeabike, which can easily be bypassed by a nice gravel road and quiet country lane 😩
