Römerkanalroute

On this stage here and there insights into exposed water pipes. Most impressive is the "green Pütz" in the valley of the Urft. It represents the beginning of the water pipe to Cologne.

Very varied tour through hedge-lined meadows and fields, brook valleys and great views on the heights. In this stage, more Roman buildings can be admired than in the first. The 80m long aqueduct bridge is particularly impressive. The only pity is that many paths are paved.

In this stage few Roman insights, as the water pipe served as a supplier of building materials for castles, monasteries and churches at the end of the Roman period.

At the beginning of the stage, the only climb through beautiful deciduous forest to Hardtburg. Then the landscape changes. Meadows and fields follow with wide views to the Siebengebirge.

Start in Rheinbach: you should plan time for this, because there are many interesting things to discover.

- several sections of the canal across the city

- Rheinbach castle with witch tower

This route initially leads straight past vegetable growing. Then through several smaller villages with historic buildings and castle ruins.
