As always I started to the Hook of Holland and make my way over to Utrecht, where I can for the first evening. Utrecht has some wonderful coffee bars to visit and just sit around and relax. I made my way over to Onsabrück then turn north heading towards Bremen. The campsite to the north looks wonderful until you see where they expect you to camp, looks as though lorries had driven over it when it was wet and there are enormous ruts. Really expensive as well, the best camping is in the south before getting to Bremen. From here you follow the route to Glückstadt where you can cross the Elbe, there aren’t many places to cross.Going north you go through Flensburg and then go into Denmark. Find everything about Denmark as wonderful, the people, country, scenery… I lived there for a while and taught there, which didn’t help when I finally got back to the English education system. The route is flat but not borings you travel north to Skagen where the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet, so interesting to see the waters touch and turn around without forcing one either way. That is why the Baltic is non tidal. All the cities and towns and worth a look, but it is a bit expensive.Turning south until the ferry where you go to Sjælland and finally over to Copenhagen. I just love Denmark so I wills its worth a stop over in Copenhagen. Go to Christiania theculturetrip.com/europe/denmark/articles/christiania-13-things-to-know-about-copenhagens-hippie-free-townThis is where they still build the Christiannia bike, the one which has been copied and built with the box for children on the front. The Dursley Pendersen was still being built there as well. From Copenhagen to Berlin there is the route taking you through the lake district down to Berlin. After Denmark it starts to get a hilly and more trees. Denmark is lacking trees and bushes. The Berlin campsite is near Tegal airport, so after going through Spandau you find the campsite. You need to find it if you ask people who live very close they don’t seem to know about the camping. The whole trip has days where you stop to visit the city. From here I pick up one of the favourite routes R1, after going through Potsdam. If you like Bauhaus architecture and designs Dessau is one place to stop over with the Bauhaus museum and college.
