  • The Red Mill was already planned and built with the Broichsdorf complex around 1776 and probably by Gottfried von Jena. In any case, it was first mentioned in a document in 1784. The origin of the name is unclear, perhaps from the color of the building (brick construction). Locally it was also called “Bendlersche Mühle”.
The mill was powered by the hammer flow. The Hammerfließ takes its name from an iron hammer that was operated in Falkenberg around 1584. The exact location and how long this factory worked is unknown. However, it can be assumed that the Red Mill was built on or near the area of this hammer mill.
With the electrification of Falkenberg/Mark, the Rote Mühle was also converted to electric drive. However, the water power of the Hammerfließ continued to be used. After the First World War, Fritz Bendler leased the mill to the master miller Wilhelm Schirm. The last tenant was a master miller Rackow. In 1946 the axle of the water wheel was repaired, i.e. H. The water wheel was still functional at this time and was also used to support the grinding operation. After 1950, the local LPG took over the mill and only used it to produce animal feed. In 1969 Rote Mühle was part of the LPG Falkenberg/Mark. After the fall of the Wall, grinding operations were stopped in 1990 and the mill stood empty until 1999.
The mill has been in the hands of a new owner since 2013. Since then, individual cultural events have taken place there. Llamas also settled there. In 2022, the mill was leased to a cultural association that aims to establish a cultural and creative center in the region.
