The Wental offers you a unique nature experience. Countless stone pillars and bizarre rock formations of limestone line up in the valley. They bear such impressive names as Felsenmeer, Wentalweible, Sphinx or Bischofshut. It is best if you take enough time to explore this unique place.

Have the Wental already wandered through several times and recommend the following option, especially for those who want to make a major tour. Start is also at the parking lot at the Wental Hotel. Then we walk through the "Felsenmeer" to the "Hexenloch" (a small sinkhole). then we turn left and walk the path (always following the Sybol Albschäferweg) to the "Gmeinthal". Then we turn half right on the "Irmannweilersträsschen and hike to a car park at the" K3013 ".These we cross and hike over the clearing island" Kerbenhof "until shortly before the sports field., Then we turn right and walk along the edge of the forest until We will come to the "Blümlesbrunnenweg" (shortly after a larger hull) Please pay attention, this turns off at an acute angle and is easy to miss.We follow the Blümlesbrunnenweg to the "Lechtalsträßle" .This we walk down (at a hut and at two Hüben over) to the "L1165".
There we have to turn left and walk along the L1165 for a little bit and then turn right onto the gravel road (Judenmahd). Follow this road for about 600 m and turn right at a fork (always staying on the gravel path). Then we change about 400m further to an intersection several ways. Then we turn left and go down a steep path into the "lower Wental". There we come again to a crossing with a good direction. If we turn right we go back directly through the "stone sea" u our starting point. But who does not shy away from a small detour can visit the "Wentalweible - a monumental rock in female form" (round trip about 2 km) .This path is almost flat!

There are official campfire sites right on the rocks.
Sufficient parking spaces are available nearby.
The nearby hotel / restaurant also offers the opportunity to stop off after a walk.

As a plant lover and orchid connoisseur, it is very difficult to get out of this valley again. It is beautiful and we were there for the first time, but certainly not the last time.

The Wental is today due to the karstification a dry valley. Millions of years ago, masses of water rushed to the Danube and cleared former sponges.Best season: spring, summer, autumnroad access
Car: From the B 466, Heidenheim-Bömenkirch, near Sontheim i. Stubental turn to Steinheim a. Albuch; in Steinheim turn left in the direction of Gnannenweiler, shortly after the end of town turn right 1 km to the Hirschtal car park.
    Bus: Heidenheim-Steinheim line, Hirschtal stop.
    Landhotel im Wental (Closed Mon).
    Tips
A meteorite impact caused the Steinheimer Becken, a crater with a diameter of almost 3.5 km. This information is provided by the Meteor Crater Museum in Steinheim Sontheim (Tues-Sun 9-12 am and 2-5 pm, steinheim.com).

Great hiking area and also an Eldorado for children for climbing. In good weather, however, it can quickly become "full" (full of people).

As in another world - worth experiencing and easily accessible to everyone, because a large parking lot is in the immediate vicinity. 👍👍

Great scenery and bizarre rock formations. Very well-developed road network so that very variable tours (even with a stroller or bike) are possible. Information material by card or app should still be available. In the Felsenmeer directly there are several designated barbecue areas. In good weather on the weekend, it is quite crowded. During the week it is certainly a bit more leisurely. Off the rocky sea, it is very quiet and there are some very nice places to rest.

The very best tip of all is: get there early!
The later it is, the fuller it gets. At some point the area is flooded by people 🙁
