Anyone who follows the Hammersbach on its way through the gorge on footbridges, tunnels and bridges will experience a spectacle of nature at any time. Towered over by 150-meter-high cliffs, you can watch the light blue water wind around huge boulders and ice and plunge down countless waterfalls.

    Opening hours:
Depending on the weather, the gorge will open in May and close again at the end of October.

Take a rain jacket and warm clothing with you!

The Höllentalklamm near Grainau, district Hammersbach, is a real experience. It goes quite uphill before reaching the entrance of the gorge. Through the unique gorge with its many waterfalls, small tunnels and corridors that are lit, the nature lover will find an unforgettable natural spectacle. In the snow-free time around mid-May to late October, the gorge is open 24 hours a day. Please do not forget the appropriate clothing, because it is a pretty wet matter in the gorge and even in summer the temperatures are sometimes cool. The Höllentalanger hut at 1387 m altitude then invites you to stop. You can also spend the night here and there are drying rooms for your clothes, should it get too wet. At great expense, a safe path was created, which leads to a large extent by tunnel cut into the rock of about 1 m wide and no more than 2 m high.

The Höllentalklamm is very beautiful, but the ascent to the Höllentaleingangshütte is exhausting and sweaty. There is a discounted entry for members of the Alpine Club.

One of the best gorges you can visit with young children (not with strollers). There about 60min uphill and rocky, so not undemanding. It is impressive how the wooden walkways, bridges and tunnels were brought into nature.
Bring good shoes and a jacket in the gorge against the cool and wet even in summer!

The Höllentalklamm is certainly one of the most impressive. Here, too, solid shoes and a rain jacket to coat are worthwhile. You can stop off after the gorge in the new Höllentalangerhütte. The way back you do not have to go through the gorge, you can go the upper path, the so-called Stangensteig. The end of this path is below the entrance, the ticket booth.

Exciting highlight during the holiday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and also the second time still fascinating!
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and take any change, as you can be very wet depending on the weather.

The very demanding, well one-hour way up to the Höllentalklamm worth it all.

We were there for the second time and just as flashed as 2016. The wet, narrow, pointed paths and the lightly lit tunnels provide an adventurous atmosphere. You feel like you're in another world. Wooden bridges lead to the other side, while under one the crystal-clear water ebtkabg rushes.

At the end of the gorge, a broad stream with large stones awaits you, where you can take a break and take fascinating photos as well as the breathtaking atmosphere.

Depending on how often one stops to take photos and be amazed, one is in this place in an hour. Back to the entrance it will be a bit faster (about 20 minutes)

The subsequent descent through the forest back to the car park, takes about 30 minutes.

Please wear sturdy shoes - best ankle-high hiking boots.
Depending on the weather, a change sweater is also useful.

Have fun and a unique experience I wish you in the Höllentalklamm

Beautiful gorge may think of rain protection sometimes comes a lot of water from above. The via ferrata down the valley may need straps and a helmet that is not sure-footed.

Sometimes there are two way variants; a variant through a tunnel, one outside; the way around is often the wetter, but also more beautiful way; the paths through the tunnels are sometimes a bit slippery

You have to see it. The most beautiful is IMHO in spring, when there are still many ice rinks available. Unfortunately, we have not made the way back via the Stangensteig yet. He is often still locked in the spring. Should also be very demanding.

Very imposing gorge with a lot of rush. Walking shoes are required because it is very slippery. Rain protection would not be too bad, so you stay dry😁
In winter the gorge is closed

Cash register necessarily cancel if you want to go back over the gorge

For everyone in the region holiday makes a must visit. At the end of the gorge you go directly to the Höllentalangerhütte.
