The monastery ruins "La Trapa" can be reached, among other things, via a climbing trail from the fishing village of Sant Elm. Like a jewel, the 18th-century former Trapisten Monastery spreads before you. It is constantly lovingly restored and thus, despite great fame among hikers, very well preserved. On a gentle walk to the observation deck, you can admire the old mill and former Terassenfelder. A very peaceful place, perfect for a walk!

The views near the monastery and the terraces of the monastery ruins themselves are "very big" cinema. In order to prevent "La Trapa" from becoming a speculative object, in 1980 it bought an environmental protection organization to restore it with the help of donations and volunteers. With the renovation of the monastery ruin also an accommodation for hikers in this unusual place is to be created.

There's nothing better than sitting above La Trappa's ruins. On the left the ruins, on the right a view towards St. Elm and the further mountain range and straight ahead towards Dragona. We are always up there in spring and February, when there is not so much going on. In summer, however, I would avoid it.
