Schloss Lietzow was built at the end of the 19th century as a replica of Lichtenstein Castle on the Swabian Alb. The railroad may seem familiar to model railroaders; it has been offered as a model by Faller for many years.

The model was the Lichtenstein Castle near Reutlingen on the Swabian Alb, which was built in 1839 by rebuilding a medieval castle. The Lietzower Castle was built in 1892/1893 by the railway technician Bopp. Bopp was responsible for the construction of the railway line Bergen - Sassnitz.
