You can walk around or ride around this beautiful dam, which is also suitable for swimming. You can get directly to the water in many places.

Built between 1897 and 1899, the Lingesetalsperre is one of the oldest reservoirs owned by the Wupperverband. It is a small, manageable lake that was originally used to regulate the river and to supply industrial water. Today it is primarily used for leisure, flood protection and low water elevation. The dammed river is the Lingese, a tributary of the Wipper. The Lingese is the border river between Kierspe in the Sauerland and Marienheide in the Oberbergisches Kreis.

In good weather, not as crowded as the Brucher dam for a long time. In the summer you have to be careful on some days, that you do not cross over the numerous young frogs, which cross the paths in droves. (Quack!)

I found the Brucher dam on site more exciting, but if I think about it again, it's actually unfair. Both reservoirs have similarly beautiful and comparable dams of the old type. The Lingsetalsperre means to make a small detour from the railway route (where probably most will come long), but I thought it was okay.

Nice little dam. Suitable for children, because the shore begins quite flat.

    4/5 asphalt
    1/5 dirt road

Very nice route, very few sections with car traffic.
    E-bike is an advantage.
    There is catering in Kierspe.

The Lingese dam is one of 16 dams of the Wupper water association
    51709 Marienheide (North Rhine-Westphalia)
The Lingese dam dams the Lingese river near the town of Marienheide in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the south-east of North Rhine-Westphalia. The dam has been in operation as a process water dam since 1899. Today the Lingese dam is primarily used for recreational enjoyment. Every year it is visited by many thousands of people who seek and find relaxation in the beautiful landscape. In 2011, the Wupperverband set up three bathing areas at the Lingese dam (bathing area 1: DLRG, bathing area 2: camping site, bathing area 3: Linge).
