It is next to the Feldberg tower one of the landmarks on the Feldberg: the Bismarck monument. In 1895 it was built by some of his admirers in honor of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. The construction cost 18,000 marks on the highest point of the lake (1,448.2 meters). From here you have a magnificent view of the Black Forest.
Not far from the monument stands the second landmark of the mountain: the Feldberg tower. The tower is open daily for visitors from 9am. From the observation deck on the eleventh floor you can see in good weather to the Zugspitze, the Mont-Blanc massif and the Vosges. From May to October you can get your appetite in the Black Forest ham museum. The entrance to the tower is 3.80 euros.

In 1890, the admirers of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck first met on the Feldberg. The idea arose to build a memorial in honor of Bismarck on the Seebuck. Three years later, at the meeting on April 1, 1895 in the Feldberger Hof, implementation was assured. Professor D. Dietsche modeled the relief with the image of Bismarck. Under the direction of the Freiburg city architect Thoma, the monument was created for 18,000 marks at the highest point of the Seebuck. It was inaugurated on December 4, 1896 as the first Bismarck monument in Baden. At the same time, the hiking trail, which went up from the Feldbergerhof to the Seebuck and was called the Kapfererweg, was opened for use.
Every year since 1890, Bismarck admirers came together on the Feldberg to commemorate and honor his memory in a celebration of the "Iron Chancellor".
The celebrations were held until the war year 1941. On April 1, 1945, a few days before the end of the war, a few Bismarck friends laid the wreath at the memorial on the Seebuck for the last time.
Because the Bismarck Friends Association no longer existed after the end of the Second World War, nobody cared about the monument in the early post-war years, and it fell into disrepair. In 1956, the Hochschwarzwald district office was forced to intervene because the masonry was no longer stable. However, because no owner could be identified, the fate of the monument seemed sealed. However, since it, like the Feldberg tower, had become a landmark of the Feldberg summit, the Feldberg community campaigned for its preservation. During the first May days of 1956, the upper third of the monument collapsed due to erosion damage. The municipality of Feldberg carried out the reconstruction in 1966. The cost was DM 29,000. Most of it was donated; the district of Hochschwarzwald donated DM 15,000.

Please, really not underestimate - head coverage, water for the four-legged friend (if there is) and for yourself. Heatstroke, dehydration, exhaustion - these are all reasons why the mountain rescue team is approaching. Better to take care of it. The majority of tourists and visitors come up via the Feldberg cable car from the Haus der Natur and do not stay too long, but from 10 o'clock in the morning the crowd is already large. It's best to book a nice spot for sunrise at 6 o'clock in the morning. The train is not there yet, but you're the first one up.
