At Vussem, the Veytal is over 70 m wide, has steep slopes and is split into two gorges.
The Romans bridged this incision when building the water pipe to Cologne through arched arches. A total of ten to twelve self-supporting pillars used to stand here.
The foundations of two pillars were verified by excavations and examined in 1958. Three pillars with the associated line section were reconstructed in 1959. (Source: mechernich.de)

Actually an impressive example of Roman engineering, but unfortunately no longer Roman except for a few remains of the foundation.
A small part of the original entire bridge was elaborately reconstructed, but in our opinion it was designed very carelessly.
Located between the cemetery and the sports field with a toilet, no invitation for hikers to linger.
