Great summit with nice easy climb from the north side. Crossing to the Zirlseck and on to the Geißhorn or Ponten and Bschießer possible.

The Rohnenspitze is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The border between the communities of Zöblen in the west and Tannheim in the east runs across the summit. Over the Zirleseck (1872 m) at the foot of the southern flank runs the state border with Germany.
The summit of the Rohnenspitze towers above the Tannheimer Tal in the north. Towards the south, she joins the Zirleseck, from where the flanks descend into the Ostrachtal. The Zirleseck is the reference point for the niche, which is 118 meters. From there you can reach the Gaishorn (2247 m) further to the south or the Ponten (2044 m) to the west. The latter is the reference for the dominance of 1.2 kilometers.
There are marked trails from different sides on the Rohnenspitze. The normal route (trail 62) leads from Zöblen over the initially densely covered with pine trees and then stony north ridge to the upstream summit cross and the summit. From the Zirleseck, a partially cable-secured path leads through the rugged southern flank, which requires some climbing in the first ridge and surefootedness. The Zirleseck can be achieved on different variants. Through the Älpelestal near Tannheim, a variant of the Via Alpina leads up to path 59, from the Ostrachtal the path 423 over the Willersalpe. From Ponten, Route 70 crosses to the Zirleseck. Only the path 71 through the Pontental meets the path through the southern flank, without leading over the Zirleseck.
In winter, the Rohnenspitze is a rewarding, challenging ski tour. As in summer, the climb takes place either over the north ridge or the Zirleseck, followed by the steep northern flank.

The path from the Zirleseck to the Ronhenspitze is a "via ferrata" in the sense that you can also use your hands to get to your destination. The hip belt and snap hook can hardly be used; there is only one section of the route, a few meters long, with rope insurance. Path marking is red (medium) I would say, with a strong tendency to black (difficult).
