The spring is located in a kind of crater cave - you can also go down a bit - in the spring after the snow melt, the mass of water flowing out here should be quite impressive.

The source of the Sorgue is well known by the name - Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
Very close to the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the Sorgue rises at the end of a deep green gorge. The source of the Sorgue is one of the most popular natural monuments and accordingly attracts many tourists. Rightly so - it is the largest source in France and the fifth largest in the world.
Rugged cliffs, 230 m high, surround the gorge and reveal the spring and its emerald green water. 630 million m³ are emitted by it every year and leave the mountains here. Almost everything that seeps away as rain and snowmelt in an area of 1,100 km² reaches it underground and comes back to the surface here.

An extensive underground network of rivers feeds the Sorgue with water all year round. Especially in spring and autumn, huge amounts of water leave the source and offer a spectacular natural spectacle.
With a diving robot you got 308 m deep during an expedition and hit a sandy bottom. But the secret of the depth has not been revealed. The source of the Sorgue remains a mystery. The low season is best to visit. Then the source is not so overcrowded and you can fully enjoy this experience of nature.

We walked the way across the castle. You have to be sure-footed. It is a nice experience a little off the beaten track.

This is the deepest water canyon in Europe. Within a few minutes the water level can rise so much that the stream becomes a raging river. The Sorgue has its origin in a spring pot in the underworld, which is fed by unknown sources
