The landmarked covered house bridge from 1816 crosses the Ilm in Buchfart over a length of 43 meters and offers a track width of 3.20 meters. On both sides are narrow walkways for pedestrians. Through the sunken windows you have a beautiful view of the Ilm and a watermill.

A special attraction of the place is the 1816-1818 built, covered wooden bridge over the Ilm. (Until 1613, the bridge was made of stone.) The listed bridge has a length of 43 meters, a width of three meters and the headroom is 3, 05 meters. The bridge is still passable. The design is from the Weimar Building Council Carl Friedrich Christian Steiner. Next to the bridge is a listed watermill / Wikipedia

A beautiful historic bridge. The ensemble of mill and bridge is best made from the rest area opposite the mill.

The bridge and the mill can best be seen or admired, if you turn from Ilmenau behind the bridge to the right.

Was Ascension Day 2020 there. Imposing old wooden building and you can linger there in a quiet atmosphere and let the old mill next to it with the ponds act and relax / slow down.

It was built between 1816 and 1818 based on a design by the Weimar master builder Karl Friedrich Christian Steiner. Today it is a listed building and is one of the most important bridges of its kind in Thuringia.
