From the castle ruins Scharfenberg you have an excellent view of the Palatinate hill country and the castle Trifels.

As of the end of May 2017, the castle can be visited. At the donjon is indeed a scaffolding and this one can not commit. The rest of the castle is walkable and definitely worth the beads of sweat, which you shed when you climb there. The view, among other things on the Trifels is just beautiful.

Unfortunately, this ruin can not be visited until further notice, as damage to the building fabric has been detected and it has now been blocked for reasons of traffic safety. This information comes from the homepage of the "Association of Palatine Climbers e.V.", PK for short: pfaelzer-kletterer.de/content/_inhalt/news/new14.htm#apr2015_1

At Scharfenberg Castle there was a mint, hence it was called "Burg Münz".

From Scharfenberg still some ruins have been preserved. Due to the slightly higher location, it is even more promising than the castle ruins Anebos. Unfortunately, there is no public access to the keep.

Unfortunately the tower has no entrance, but it is still fun to explore all corners of the walls.

You only get to the castle field on the Weinsteig, because the Trifels is a detour. I would recommend starting a special hike that includes the visiting Trifels, the Anebos and the coin. Very worthwhile

The view extends far over the gentle hills of the Palatinate Forest.
It is also wonderful to scramble around on the red sandstone rocks.

The Scharfenberg castle ruins, also known as "Münz", will be closed until autumn 2023, among other things due to renovation work.
