Neuschwanstein Castle stands above Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southern Bavaria. The building was built in 1869 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II as an idealized idea of a knight's castle from the Middle Ages. The designs are by Christian Jank, the execution took over Eduard Riedel and Georg von Dollmann. The king lived only a few months in the castle, he died before the completion of the plant. Neuschwanstein was originally called the New Castle Hohenschwangau, it bears its present name since 1886. Owner of the castle is the Free State of Bavaria; It is managed and managed by the Bavarian Administration of State Castles, Gardens and Lakes.

Neuschwanstein is the most famous of the castles of Ludwig II and one of the most famous sights in Germany. It is visited annually by about 1.5 million tourists. Neuschwanstein, often referred to as the "fairytale castle", can be visited and is open to visitors almost all year round. The architecture and interior design are characterized by romantic eclecticism of the 19th century; The castle is considered a major work of historicism. A photograph of the "Ludwig Castles" Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee in the list of World Heritage by UNESCO is sought.

A very nice castle what you should visit, a beautiful view of the castle you have from the Marienbrücke. Unfortunately, it is very crowded and what disturbed me during the visit was the behavior of some visitors. What I've read, it's probably a folk sport that you have to spit.

The castle Neuschwanstein is really beautiful! A must for every German hiker as I think.
    My conclusion, however:
Without paying, there is no nice view of the castle as a whole. Unfortunately you only get small impressions of it. For example, we were there with our dog and could not go to the castle. A big disappointment for dog owners.
But if you do not have a dog and a few euros left, I can definitely recommend the trip to you!

The castle does not necessarily have to be visited. The view from the bridge is the best.

The interior of Hohenschwangau Castle is certainly not as worth seeing as in Neuschwanstein, but it is also a castle in which, so to speak, "lived".

Seven weeks after the death of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein was opened to the public in 1886. The shy king had built the castle to withdraw from the public eye - now his refuge became a crowd puller.Neuschwanstein is one of the most visited castles in Europe. Around 1.4 million people visit "the castle of the fairytale king" every year. In summer, an average of more than 6,000 visitors a day push through rooms that were intended for a single occupant. In connection with the alpine climate and light, this leads to considerable burdens for the valuable furniture and textiles, which the lock management tries hard to maintain. The idyllic location of Neuschwanstein is unique. However, movements in the foundation area must be constantly monitored and the steep rock faces must be secured again and again. The harsh climate also has a strong impact on the limestone facades, which always requires renovation measures.neuschwanstein.de/deutsch/schloss/index.htm
