Oberwaldsee

Very nice, but should be representative of the countless hidden beautiful corners of the two lakes, wonderful views are everywhere here. Just walk around the lakes on the narrow paths ;-)

Until 1982 basalt was mined in the Dietesheim quarries. Since then, a magnificent lake landscape has emerged there, which is not only attractive for walkers and cyclists, but also offers a refuge as a nature reserve to numerous rare animal and plant species.
The Oberwaldsee is the largest of the Dietesheim lakes. An absolute highlight is the so-called Canyon Bridge, which spans the narrow connection between Oberwaldsee and Vogelsberger See at lofty heights.

Beautiful trails around the lake, but a few places caution.

So much time must be: Just like this place, there are numerous opportunities to marvel at the here, created by the basalt mining fjord-like landscape.

The trails are really quite fun, only when it is very full on the lake in summer, there are many pedestrians and bikers.

There are countless great views here. I discover something new every time. Walk around the lakes and enjoy.

The lake is called Oberwaldsee, not Odenwaldsee!

In the following period, the entire area was renatured, for example by the planting of over 120,000 oaks and alders, as well as bushes and shrubs. Over the years, a magnificent forest landscape with bizarre rock faces and deep blue lakes was created, which is not only attractive for walkers and cyclists, but also offers a refuge for numerous rare animal and plant species as a nature reserve.

Beautiful nature reserve, created from former basalt quarries. Nice area for walking, relaxing.
A large barbecue area offers opportunities for celebration, which is often used.

The "Seenplatte" Dietesheim ... really worth a visit. Lots of walking paths, lots of small trails, lots of relaxation.
Great natural environment.

A really grandiose experience of nature. Whether by bike or on foot, simply fantastic!
