    The Prussian port
Hiking water rest area and gateway to urban life

Located on the south bank of the Datteln-Hamm Canal, the Preußenhafen is well connected in terms of infrastructure, both for the region and for Lünen itself: It is a junction between Lünen-Süd, Gahmen and Horstmar - a 10-minute walk to the city center - and at the same time connects the adventure region Ruhr area with the recreational landscape of Müns-terland.

In its current, modern shape, the former coal port symbolizes the successful connection between yesterday and today, which is useful for the people of Lüner as well as for tourism. Impressively recommended for the viewer is the Mohrkran towering imposingly over the waterfront as a memorial to a bygone era. For 80 years, the Prussian port served the region well as a transshipment point for black mine gold, and in the mid-1960s it was expanded to its current level. Nevertheless, the structural change did not stop at this port and its importance decreased continuously until 1995 all loading activities were stopped.

The Preußenhafen, then a transshipment point for coal and steel, is still a transshipment point today; but for coffee, cake, beer and sausages. 😜

Nice resting place on the canal. Sometimes you can meet friends and acquaintances who are on the canal or on the Leezenpatt.

Very well preserved Mohr crane .... was formerly used for coal loading ... which was transported by the surrounding coal mines to the Prussian port by rail and then finally by inland shipping. In the immediate vicinity is a port kiosk 👍👍

A beautiful view at the harbor with old harbor crane!
There, at the harbor kiosk, you can have a good break to have something to eat and drink or to have a chat with a partner!
