At the southern end, above the Mummelsee, stands the 23 m high Hornisgrindeturm. Its construction in 1910 goes back to the initiative of the Badischer Schwarzwaldverein. The building material was used in the vicinity of standing Buntsandstein. Together with the Mummelsee the tower was one of the most popular excursion destinations of the region. In 1942 he was seized by the German Air Force. After the Second World War, the French military used it. In 2000, the Waldgenossenschaft Seebach bought back the tower from the federal government and transferred it to the municipality of Seebach in Erbpacht. On May 29, 2005, the tower was reopened to the public. He was named "Monument of the Month June 2005" by the Denkmalstiftung Baden-Württemberg. In relatively clear weather, the tower has a panoramic view of numerous mountains of the Black Forest, the Vosges Mountains, parts of the Palatinate Forest and the Swabian Alb. In very good visibility, some peaks of the Alps can be seen in the south.

The viewpoint above the lake offers an incomparable view of the Mummelsee hotel below and the Ice Age Karsee. The Mummelseeblick is a popular photo motif of many travel guides who report on North Baden's most popular destination in the Black Forest.

The Mummelsee on Black Forest High Road is accompanied by constant hype, especially when the weather is nice. Up here in the Karwand the lake can still be viewed in a pleasant calm, there is no sign of this hype. You can relax with a view of the lake, the hotel and the surrounding mountain ranges. The wooden benches at the Mummelsee view invite you to relax, unwind, relax and enjoy Mummelsee and the landscape. Anyone who passes the Mummelsee should also make a stop and go up to the Mummelsee view to enjoy the wonderful view and tranquility.

Great view of the Black Forest. In good weather, unfortunately, completely overcrowded, both the path and the restaurant on the tower.

The breathtaking Hornisgrinde viewpoint is located on the 1,164 m high Hornisgrinde, the highest mountain in the northern part of the Black Forest. Here you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the Rhine Valley and the Vosges on clear days. You only visit the high gravel because of the uninterrupted play of mist and a clear blue sky. The many foggy days make the Hornisgrinde even more mysterious than it already is. On other days you will encounter a clear blue sky and look out over a sea of clouds, which covers the valley of the Upper Rhine. The Hornisgrinde is the most northern peak of the so-called "gravel". These are the largely treeless high plains, which mainly consist of heather and raised bog. The average annual temperature here is less than 5 ° C. Winters are usually very long. More than 120 days of snow a year and a snowfall of more than one meter are no exception. Undoubtedly you will get to know the still visible scars of Hurricane Lothar here. Who struck mercilessly during the Christmas of 1999. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Germany! Small tip, the best time here is September when the sky is clearest and you can see much further and it is also less crowded here,

Busy on weekends. If you really want to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the moor, as well as the all-round view, you should make the ascent early in the morning or late at night

On the upper floor there are 4 lounge chairs in front of the panoramic window. And if you are fortunate enough to get one of them, you have a wonderful view of the Rhine Valley.

The well-known 23 meter high observation tower has been joined by a new, elegant high-altitude guesthouse, which has been inviting guests since 22 December. The owner of the 2.5 million expensive project was the Waldgenossenschaft Seebach. The hut is run by the Zepf family, which is well known in Baiersbronn with its Forsthaus Auerhahn hotel and now also wants to pamper its guests with Black Forest specialties on the Hornisgrinde.

"... The Hornisgrindeturm gives many visitors the impression that it is the legacy of an old castle. Only a few know that its existence was due to the initiative of the Baden Black Forest Association under factory director Nauwerk from Oberachern, who received the building permit on June 15, 1909 from the Grand Ducal District Office in Achern, a copper plate at the entrance to the tower reminds the architect of the completion in 1910. The Hornisgrindegipfel with the beautiful observation tower and the equally beautiful "Grindenhotel" was the most popular excursion destination in the entire region with the Mummelsee until 1942 After the seizure by the German Air Force and later by the French military, the observation tower remained closed to the public for almost 60 years. ... Visitors should not miss a walk on the Grindenpfad across the raised bog area. Over a length of 3 km and at 12 stations, visitors can learn all sorts of things about the animals, the special climate and the flora and fauna of these raised bogs.

The highest mountain in the northern Black Forest. Always worth a visit even in winter. On Sundays no longer recommended due to lack of parking space and crowd.
