This Sunday I chose the Gr. Kremstal and the Maria Berg im Tal route decided. The weather was perfect, so nothing stood in the way of a nice tour.Large Kremstal route: Immediately after the start in Albrechtsberg there is a crisp downhill trail, which is fun at the beginning! And it goes on like this, most of the time you are on the forest or forest roads, the asphalt proportion is very low. It soon becomes clear that this is a route that is full of surprises! Crunchy climbs (up to 21%), rapid downhill, practically no flat sections to freak out. A power stretch that beginners should better stay away from. Actually, this route would have been more than enough for one day, I didn't think it would be so exhausting. But from the middle of the Kremstal route I first drove to the 2nd route ..The Maria Berg im Tal route is the more leisurely equivalent to this. Scenically very beautiful sections, a lot of culture in the form of beautiful churches. However, associated with this is a significantly higher proportion of asphalt and few trail sections. Not as hard and demanding as the Kremstal route, but less action as a result. The highlight here is the Galgenberg with the Hubertus chapel and the great view.I had imagined the connecting section between the routes as a level forest road to quickly bridge over, but the reality was balancing over stones crossing a stream and pushing uphill ...On the way back to the Kremstal route, I therefore took the road for reasons of time.Back here I was already a little broken and I was running out of time. Slowly I realized that I hadn't even finished half of the Kremstal. It went on as usual, uphill, downhill, creek crossings over bridges or not .. It got more and more tough, but somehow the goal just can't get any closer! No sooner had a few vertical meters gained than it went downhill again and the next ascent was waiting. Yes, and as if all of that wasn't enough, there was also one of the surprises mentioned at the beginning! One of the footbridges over the river in the middle of the forest was closed! So it was either go back forever and evade large areas, or somehow over. There was no real alternative upstream or downstream, the stream was too wide, the current too strong. I would have been at least up to my knees in the water, but I don't know if I would have made the current with the bike in hand. Above all, there was a steep face on the other side that was almost impossible to climb. So good advice was expensive! I then decided on “across the bridge”. Whereby, it was not without its dangers! First lift the bike over the barrier, over the rotten bridge and then lift the bike again over the second barrier and somehow climb past the barrier and then the steep path up. On the Lower Austrian MTB side this route was said to be "open", there was nothing of a closed bridge! Done, the obstacle was overcome and slowly I really wanted to sit in the car on the way home. But there was still the nasty final climb back to Albrechtsberg ...Conclusion: Awesome, the Kremser is an ultra hard route, the Maria Berg a nice, comfortable one. Both together are actually perfect if you have enough power, technology and time. Surprises like the closed bridge are part of it and make the Reitz what it is. But everyone has to decide for himself how he decides here. I would advise everyone to drive around because that was dangerous! It is possible that the bridge will soon be refurbished and it will pay off to wait a little.

In the end I had to pull hard to be in the light of the car.
