Glessener, Wiedenfelder and Vollrather Höhe are all heaps that were raised from overburden from opencast mines. These high plateaus are used for agriculture, their steep slopes have been forested for stabilization.

The spoil from some opencast mines reached the Glessener Höhe. All are filled, renatured ... well, let's say: recultivated (mostly used for agriculture).

Immediately adjacent to the dump are two beautiful nature reserves - there was no profitable coal underneath.

We have huge spoil heaps, and the open pit pits are filled - how come?

Quite simply: the hills fell under the table or

in the end landed on the dump.

Glessener Höhe is one-way for the RR. With off-road bikes there are nicer driveways, as a descent I recommend my route.

Wiedenfelder Höhe is beautiful on every side.

The Vollrather Höhe is much better in the opposite direction, my descent has bad bumps - the southern access routes are excellent.
