After 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 in a different region in Franconia, 20 like-minded people met for the fifth time to spend a day on the road, exchange good thoughts, and sing and pray together. The physical well-being should not be neglected on this day. Our dear pilgrim friends Gerhard and his wife Renate, who organized this year's tour, invited us to a rich and delicious breakfast at 9 a.m.Afterwards we went to the starting point, the medieval fortified church "Zum Heiligen Geist", which impressively defines the townscape of Grafengehaig. After a short morning praise in the Protestant church, it started to rain when leaving the church and didn't want to stop.Even at our next station, the Hinterrehberg chapel, the rain simply didn't want to take a break. The chapel in Hinterrehberg, which is idyllically located in a small garden on a hill, was lovingly built in-house by the Franconian Forest Association Neuensorg under the leadership of Bruno Tittel. The interior is clad in wood and has been adorned by a small bell tower since 2016.The chapel invites hikers and walkers to stop and pray for a short time, it is freely accessible at all times. In the steady rain, our route now led uphill to the Weidmeser Höhe, which offers a magnificent view of the Fichtel Mountains and the Franconian Jura. The next stop was to take place in Kupferberg, where an outdoor picnic was planned at the Sebastian Chapel. One should hardly believe it: the rain paused on time when it reached the small chapel, which lasted right up to the point of departure after dinner. The Sebastian Chapel is at the northeast exit of Kupferberg. Its first construction can be dated to the 14th century, when the old trade route from Forchheim to Bohemia still led there. The current building dates back to 1824. Why the prayer room - simply called “Kapella” in the vernacular - was once entrusted to St. Sebastian, is unknown today: The reasons for this patronage may be related to the mining industry, to the chaos of war or to it a rampant epidemic (such as the plague). Also noteworthy is the panel of five wounds to the right of the chapel. Our way continued in the rain via Hermes to Marienweiher, the destination of this year's pilgrimage. The basilica has recently been shining in fresh splendor after an interior renovation. According to a legend, a carter slept in the inn on the pond when robbers attacked the inn. His cry for help to Our Lady in great need was heard. Out of gratitude, he had a statue of Mary placed in the chapel, which more and more pilgrims came to see. This continued more and more and the settlement became a place of pilgrimage. After the final prayer with Father Adrian, the day together ended with a cozy get-together at the Ott inn in Marienweiher. A heartfelt thank you to our married couple Renate and Gerhard, our organizers of the pilgrimage this year, who planned everything from an excellent organizational point of view and gave all participants an eventful day. God bless you and see you again in 2022.
I am happy that you are fine again and that you have found your "old" shape. It's a shame you had such a wet day.
A nice thing is the pilgrimage. Great group, great food.I think it's great to switch off for a day. Sing and pray.In the end, the weather does not play a major role. For next year, I wish you all: that you all come back together for the hike. ✨🙏🏻🧚♀️✨

Buen camino 🙏
Sunshine ☀️ at the end of the pilgrimage - there must have been angels 😇 on the way. Great tour and tour description 🤗
An impressive pilgrimage route with stations that were unknown to us until today. Thank you for "taking" us with you. The beautiful stations and the magnificent basilica are a very good contrast to the gray sky and the rainy day. Have a sunny Sunday.
Söhni on the way there are always tours with good entertainment value - the stone is well labeled 😘💪👍👏👌📷🤗🤗🤗
Great pilgrimage, with obviously great joy and many friends. And when I finished catering, I would have had a hard time resisting ... 📷🤩👍🔝👏🤣
Very nice walk Söhni!A real hiker doesn't stay home when it rains 😉🔝.
On the feast day of the "pilgrim patron", the apostle James the Elder, a friendly greeting from the Rhineland to you, Söhni, and the whole group of pilgrims from Franconia.
