Starting point: Blaicher Platz, parking lot near Sauermannskuh
The Kulmbach district of Blaich, connected to the city by the Berlin Bridge, is located between Hofer Straße (O), Spitalwald (N), the district of Pörbitsch (W) and the flood basin (S) on the northern slope of the White Main. The place name goes back to the former Bleichplatz of the Kulmbach linen weavers.
Our circular hiking trail begins like the circular hiking trail KU 41, the spring height trail at Blaicher Platz, at the parking lot around the Sauermannskuh. It is a life-size bronze cast of an award-winning cow and is reminiscent of the former famous, large Sauermann meat factory.
Our circular hiking trail leads us on the sidewalk at the Handwerkerhof past Albert-Schweitzer-Straße, the driveway to the clinic, and after about 100 meters branches off to the right into Hermann-Aberle-Straße. Now we hike steadily uphill on a driveway to a single property, to the spring height. Here we walk to the right of the property, steeply uphill on meadow paths through the corridor to the height and enjoy the beautiful view of Kulmbach and the Plassenburg. We now hike on an easy farm road up to the hamlet of Oberpurbach, first mentioned in 1398, at the entrance to the gorge-like bottom of the Purbach.
The name is derived from Otto Knopf von Burgbach; However, it is unclear from which (prehistoric?) castle the place and the brook got the name.
We touch the settlement on the western edge, walk straight ahead briefly on the driveway, then leave it straight ahead at the crossroads and walk up a dirt road to the forest. We hike on pleasant paths through beautiful forest sections and after a good half a kilometer we come to the Kulmbach airfield, where in the visitor area there is a beautiful view of the Franconian Line, the southern foothills of the Franconian Forest.
We circle the airfield on its eastern side and come walking slightly downwards, the beautiful view accompanies us, past a water tank, soon to the hamlet of Neufang. The circular hiking trail leads us past the horse stud farm on a field path to the right of the path before the road a historic cross to the road near Ramscheid, which we turn left after the Baumgarten, first mentioned in 1398 (with the war memorial erected in 1980 in a small grove outside the village (detour! The Heckenweg links the hiking trails from Stadtsteinach and Kulmbach.
Since there is no sensible bypassing of the road, we have to follow it about half a kilometer after the Spiegelhöhe (transmitter mast) in the direction of Stadtsteinach and then turn right to the forest.
A beautiful view of Stadtsteinach and the heights surrounding it and of the Franconian Forest make up for running on the hard surface. We walk through the forest, cross twice the roads leading to Gumpersdorf (from Stadtsteinach and Untersteinach) outdoors. We enjoy changing views when we hike at this altitude. Looking back, your gaze wanders over the heights of the Franconian Forest and to the right to Ramscheid, Oberndorf, Baumgarten and the airfield.
Near Gumpersdorf, with the four barn houses (sandstone blocks) from the 18th / 19th century. Century, is the headwaters of the Kesselbach, which flows after a short run near Kauernburg in the White Main.
According to Otto Knopf, the settlement probably goes back to the 1st Franconian settlement period of the 5th - 8th centuries. It could be named after the Franconian servant Gumpert.
A path continues southwards mainly through the forest until a dirt road branches off in a south-westerly direction above the Einzel Mühlberg with its historically interesting buildings.
The name Mühlberg is derived from the Forstlasmühle below, which is located at the confluence of the Schorgast in the White Main. The mill was built after Günter Wild in the 11th / 12th. Century and was later (1398) called Forstleins- und Forstlemuele, which means something like mill near or under a small forest (probably Eichberg).
At the height in the open air we enjoy the view of the mountain range of the Fichtelgebirge, of the hamlet Mühlberg and later, at a certain distance, of the Fölschnitzer vineyards (up to around the beginning of the 18th century) also of the Plassenburg and the Görauer Anger.
Now we hike downwards in the direction of the Kulmbach district of Aichig and via the Aichiger Weg we reach the district of Aichig (with the adjacent Kauernburg). On the bike and footpath on Hofer Straße we come to our starting point at Blaicher Platz.
The Kesselbach flows through Kauernburg (also known as Eichenbach or Teufelsgraben after Otto Knopf), at whose confluence with the White Main was the border point of the Kulmbach city toll until 1338.

I don't know my way around the flutter man, but the “zebra” is protected from bloodthirsty insects such as horseflies.
I could use it, I'm totally bitten zerst. 😏
    You had very nice prospects!

@Rita: We felt the same way yesterday and today. The critters 🦟 are currently unbearable! At least we always have something with us to alleviate a sting.

Wonderful pictures of your hike🥰. Picture 13 is awesome.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with 🦗🦟🦗. I've thought of you so often, especially yesterday it was so extreme with the mosquitoes. Because if you run or hike you have no chance with the 🦟🦟🦟.
    Definitely a hike 🤗👌🤗
