The third round of the day was actually the way back from Altenstein to the PP at the zoo. Although we planned differently, we indulged in the luxury of the shuttle bus to Altenstein Castle. Let down by the bus driver, we walked back to the car. And what must say. It surprised us positively and was a very nice way to end the day.
A day like this replaces a week's vacation. 🤍

The second round, how could it be otherwise, went to Altensteiner Park as the BUGA branch. Despite the many gardeners, forest workers and visitors it was an absolute experience. Some paths were closed due to forest work. But there is so much to discover. Definitely worth a visit.

The 48 hectare park on the Ilm is a unique landscape garden on the edge of Weimar's old town. Duke Carl August and Johann Wolfgang Goethe realized their garden art ideas here. They created an accessible work of art with varied landscapes, park architecture and seating, which is still used today for recreation, education and the aesthetic enjoyment of nature."Weimar is actually a park in which a city is located."
Writer Adolf Stahr, 1871The creation of the park on the Ilm is closely linked to Goethe's life and work in Weimar. In 1776, Duke Carl August gave the poet a house with a garden, known today as the Goethe Garden House in the Park on the Ilm. In the period that followed, Goethe and Carl August worked together to plan the first facilities in the new English style between the city, castle and Goethe's garden house. From 1778 onwards, the design of the western Ilmhang with its woody backdrops, walking paths and park architecture was created. The building of the Roman House, completed in 1797, marks the climax of the park's development after the extensive park extension to the south and the integration of older palace gardens. The Park an der Ilm is an external location of the BUGA Erfurt 2021.klassik-stiftung.de/park-an-der-ilm
