There are tens of variants of the former 32-kilometer race track for the Mountain Bike Challenge in Offenburg. I downloaded this one from Garmin and it corresponds - except for a questionable Schlencker in Rammersweier - pretty much the route as I remember it.

The Ortenau-Weg is a 125 km long part of the Rheintalweg between Herbolzheim in the south and Ettlingen in the north. I've broken it down into 3 stages, each of which has good train connections at its start and finish points. This middle part is also suitable for racing bikes with the exception of approx. 2 unpaved road kilometers when crossing the motorway near Achern. The route is very beautiful, especially the villages between Renchen and Achern are simply great with their orchards in bloom.

This is the first of three sections of the 125 km long Ortenau Trail. It runs from Herbolzheim in the south to Ettlingen in the north and is actually part of the Rheintal-Weg.The path is signposted all the way to Offenburg on this first stage. You can save yourself the last dangling short before Offenburg or let it lead you to the beach bar "Essgut" on Giffen-See, or to the rest area "Am Großen Deich" and the neighboring "Bleiche", then back to the center of Offenburg.I rode the route on my mountain bike, but racing bikes are also possible. Simply go straight on after Allmansweier and follow the country road at the next roundabout to the left in the direction of Meißenheim.

Based on the (relatively poorly) signposted Grimmelshausen Tour published by the Black Forest Nature Park. However, the start has been moved from Oberkirch to Offenburg, making the route 17 km longer and doubling the altitude to around 500 meters. Beautiful route through orchards and vines with many opportunities to stop for a break - to Corona ...
