Thanks to the suggestion from Thomas from EF last week and the virtual Komoot tour around Jena from March this year, which Romy and Thomas had organized, the tour had been on the list for a while. :-)
At first it was a steep uphill climb to get to the middle Saale-Horizontale. The ascent was rewarded with great views, especially with the good visibility today. I felt no urgent need to slide down the student slide, as I would have had to climb up again afterwards! ;-)
With so different great views from a really very beautiful path, we relaxed a bit in the forest and when we got out. Up on the plateau we used the seemingly endless meadow for a short break with a picnic and then we continued towards the Fuchsturm. The path led us first across large rolling meadows and then into a green forest at its best. A narrow path snaked through the giant trees until we came out again at the stone cross.
Then it went on the Saale-Horizontals in the direction of the Fuchsturm over meadow paths and past a flock of sheep that grazed under blossoming apple trees. Then finally another ascent so that the circulation gets going. On top of the mountain is a consecration place with a circle of 32 different mountain communities in the Hesse / Thuringia region. It was set in 1936 on the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Fuchsturm Society.
And then finally the Fuchsturm with the first "open air coffee" after Corona. Hmmmm, that was a pleasure. On the way down we passed the monument to Alfred Weimar and Ute said that he looks just as gracious as I often do.
As tough as the ascent was at the beginning, the descent from the Fuchsturm to Jena was just as moderate.
And then the tour was over again after about 3.5 hours.

Today we went back to Bad Bibra Forest, because we liked it so much the last time. This time we didn't start from Steinach, but from Krawinkel on the Alte Naumburger Handelsstrasse.
Since we have already been to the Böselstein several times and it is dismantled at the moment anyway (probably for a refurbishment?), We turned off beforehand to go back over the wonderful forest path. The last time the big giants in the forest were naked and gray-brown, they have now adorned themselves with green leaves that immediately create a different atmosphere.
Back in Krawinkel I saw the sign (Böselstein circular route) and thought AHA, then that was probably the Böselstein circular route that we went, because at the very beginning the Böselstein was excellent in itself, but not as a circular route. And the marking wasn't continuous either. Still, it was a very relaxing trail that is recommended.

Today was the second time we were on our way around the Himmelsleiter and it was completely different and no less beautiful! While the last time it was all deeply snowed, today we hiked through a sea of fruit and other flowers. First up the mountain and the sky ladder to enjoy the wonderful view from above. Then we could hike wonderfully relaxed on the high plateau.
The old quarry is definitely worth a visit. With the right look you can find interesting information.
The sea of fruit blossoms along many paths was really delightful!
Then it went back through the ravine in the direction of Bad Bibra, the old Naumburger Straße and finally over the panorama path to Steinach, which is really recommendable.
In any case, we think we made the best of the day.

It was a great tour and we are very grateful for the suggestion from SL2311!
It started with a big surprise, because an elderly lady from Thalbürgel let us into the monastery church of Thalbürgel and we could explore it from the inside. A great building!
Then it went uphill through the Lange Tal and the tip with the forest path parallel to the forest road was really great!
I would have imagined the Wolfsschlucht differently, e.g. similar to the Schloßgraben near Waldeck, but it was still beautiful.
We were really surprised by the wild romance of the upper part of the castle moat near Waldeck. Unfortunately we came a year too late, because at that time the entire old beech population was still visible. During our visit, the felled and partly sawed trees lay criss-cross through the landscape.
We came back full of beautiful impressions and were glad and happy to have had such a beautiful Sunday.

On Easter Sunday we were in the Thuringian Forest. Starting from Neuhaus over the Rennsteig down to the Scheibe Alsbach reservoir. There is a wonderful panoramic path around the lake. But then we are back up through the Schwarzatal, which is absolutely idyllic and recommendable to the source of the Schwarza. You can't tell from the fact that it is supposed to be the deepest fissure source in Europe. But from what depth it rises I could not yet find out. :-(
Then it went uphill to the Weidmannsheil refuge and from there back over the Rennsteig.
On the Rennsteig there are a large number of different boundary stones that tell the Thuringian history in their own way.
It was a very nice tour with a great Easter sun!

On Good Friday we were near Arnstadt and discovered a very beautiful and idyllic corner around Hausen. Not only the Wipfra runs idyllically through the valley, a very interesting old fortified church can also be seen in the village, which dates back to the 12th century.
Hausen is on the Bach and Luther trails.
