The conquest of the legendary "Die Lange" had haunted us for some time. The weather forecast was great, so we went to Benneckenstein, where we first took a closer look at the train station and then started with the bikes from there. The first time we left "Die Lange" to make a detour to the Kapitelsberghütte, this is an absolute dream spot on earth, even if the forest around the hut has become quite light and you can also look at the hut itself so slowly that it is no longer is brand new you just have to rest here. Back on the long way, it seemed to go on endlessly on this forest highway, always amazed at the no longer existing forest and the huge piles of wood that are ready for removal on the way. Then we discovered a hut a bit off the road that we explored, it was not locked, there was even a case of beer in it. Here someone is getting set up, there has already been a visitor, a little mouse. Again and again we could see the Rappode dam from the high plateau and finally our way went directly over the road tunnel of Landstraße 96 to the viewing platform of Harzdrenalin, there were many people here, nothing like getting away. We then briefly explored the parking lot and marveled at the many construction sites here. Now we went through the road tunnel, over the bridge then right onto a forest path that always led us along the dam, at Rotestein, not far from the Stemberghaus charcoal factory, there was a short break and for the umpteenth time the stamp 54 of the HWN. Our next destination should be the Eichenberg ghost stamp, the first adventurous way ended for us with trees lying across, where we couldn't get through ... so back and take the next way up. Well it was also very adventurous to drive and the last few meters to the ghost stamp point were only possible on foot. Then we drove on beautiful forest paths to the Hassel-Vorsperre, where we found that our route planning for today did not work out because the sun was already very low. After a short consultation, the only solution that seemed to us to be sensible was to return to "Die Lange" in order to be able to make good speed there. That was a good thing, just in daylight we reached the station in Benneckenstein again, where we had started our tour in the morning. How komoot comes to the fact that we were on the road for about 3 hours 36 minutes is completely incomprehensible to me, but maybe they have a different time calculation.

Open Monument Day, Stolberg, it should be what we wanted to explore more closely on this day. We got stuck in the castle, started with a tour of the castle by the maid of habenicht and then it got really exciting, we got an exclusive tour of the construction site from the responsible architect of the German Foundation for Monument Protection. We have come to areas that are not yet accessible to the public, unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos there.

Mansfeld Castle was our next destination today. Those who love peace and quiet and old walls with park-like outdoor facilities will get their money's worth here, at least on a Friday. There is also a stamp box here, a blue one from the Wildromantisches Wippertal stamp booklet with two stamps. We enjoyed the view and the beauty of the late Gothic castle church with its sensational leaded glass windows before we moved on to the Viaduktblick Mansfeld to capture a spirit of the Harz hiking nobility. Woow, what a beautiful place where you can also rest and enjoy wonderfully in the hut.

In order to visit the hiking stamp box of the Harzer Wanderadel, we started in Pölsfeld from the parking lot at the sports field in the direction of the karst hiking trail, straight uphill through a great meadow and deciduous forest landscape. As if we suspected that we would have to mobilize our strength again, we lingered for a while in the shade at the pavilion of the Karstlandschaft Südharz biosphere reserve. The notice board for the stream shrinkage Hainsches Tal lured us a little deeper into the forest where we explored the small caves. Now we went uphill for about 1.5 kilometers, but the effort was worth it, a wonderful view over the dry meadows of the karst landscape rewarded us. From a distance we saw the stamp box, which is located directly on the thought bank, a beautiful piece of earth. Here you can look over Sangerhausen and admire the typical mining heaps of the Mansfeld region. I could have sat here for hours. The approaching clouds warned us of a thunderstorm that was approaching, so we continued towards Pölsfeld and after a nice chat with locals it was clear that our hike would end here with a visit to Kaffee Siebenhühner, which we can absolutely recommend. Incidentally, the thunderstorm passed us.

Today I showed Aral the middle finger while driving through, but tomorrow I'll take the car again. It is very dangerous to ride a bicycle in city traffic. What you have to consider as a left-turning driver is probably no longer explicitly taught in driving schools. Nevertheless, I've seen a lot again where you can't get far by car.

Today we finally found the time to take our bikes out again. Our first destination was the gypsum kiln in Krimderode, which we had already heard about but had not yet found the way there and it turned out to be right on the steam train climb and the karst hiking trail. A local resident noticed our interest and asked us into his house, an old mill, to bring us closer to the historical background of this gypsum kiln with the help of old pictures. It is always interesting what there is to discover in the immediate vicinity for remarkable buildings and landscapes, which you may pass by every now and then, but not consciously perceive them. From there we always went along the Zorge back to the city park to enjoy a coffee at the fountain there before we headed for the next destination, the ice cream parlor in Niedersachwerfen. Hallelujah there was something going on here, but we would kill for ice cream and so it took a little longer, but it was very tasty as always. Our way led us on to Neustadt, where there was a party on Sunday afternoon with live music right at the gondola pond, from there we cycled to the rose pond, then up to Herrmannsacker and Buchholz. Our goal here was the information pavilion on the hotspot region “Gipskarst Südharz”, which was inaugurated two months ago. Here the landscape and nature of our homeland is explained very well. Then we went via Steigerthal to Urbach along the country road, here we dropped anchor again in the beer garden of the Gasthaus ,, Striebeck's Felsenkeller '' to quench our hunger and thirst, by the way, you can absolutely recommend it. Now it was time to throw in the big gear to drive back home on the Harz-Kyffhäuser-Rennsteig cycle path through Windehausen and Heringen, because the sun was already pretty low. Just before dark we managed to fly in at home, yes you can tell that the days are getting significantly shorter, but it was a very nice tour.

The Weissensee: pearl of the Alps or wonder of nature. It's gorgeous, crystal clear and emerald green. It is located in such calm in the middle of the Gailtal Alps, it is the highest lake in Carinthia
