To boldly go where no one has gone before... (met 26 kilometer per uur en liefst over gravel en asfalt).
Today the tour was mainly about taking a picture of the new bridge over the N69 under construction. You can't get over it yet, but I'm already baptizing it as "the idiot bridge." Not for the cyclists who will soon have to cross it on foot, but for the designers of this devastation. Do you remember the tunnels of the past, that of getting off and holding your bike through the groove on the side? Well, that's what I'm talking about.
If a prize were given for the most stupid designs, this bridge would score very high for me. Apparently, biodiversity must also decrease intelligence. Firstly, they throw some asphalt against it right through a beautiful stretch of Kempen, apparently to make cut-through traffic a bit more legitimate, while at the same time creating obstacles for environmentally friendly cyclists. In the short time that I wondered how someone could be so stupid, I have seen many cyclists, but not a single pedestrian. I wonder how long it will take before a path is created next to the bridge, so that cyclists can cross the new motorway without having to get off their bikes. May the official who was apparently tired of his Lego and devised this plan in the future focus on the SIMs on the Playstation and let it go wholeheartedly. A green road does not exist and you do not discourage motorists by building even more roads. To prevent cut-through traffic? A few kilometers away is the N397, which travels more or less the same route.Propaganda: “The connecting road runs in an area with agricultural land and partly in a natural area with stream valleys, which are part of the Brabant Nature Network (NNB). That is why there is a lot of attention for the preservation and strengthening of nature.
Cyclists and pedestrians can also cross the road in this way. By making the stream valleys more visible in this way, the experience of nature for recreational users is enhanced. This is in line with the province's ambition to develop the new N69 as the greenest and most sustainable road in Brabant. ”
