On the last day of our five-day tour, we finally return from Haunwang to the Isar cycle path, which we follow to Ismaning. After a short stay in the beer garden, we then turn towards Poing, where our journey ends. All in all a wonderful tour, the most beautiful sections for us were the Waldnaabtal and Isar cycle paths.

After we rejected the idea of going by ship on the Danube to Deggendorf due to the unclear information situation, we start in Straubing in the direction of Dingolfing. It is pleasant on bike paths and small roads and after a few short but strong climbs it goes down into the Isar valley. At Dingolfing we meet the Isar valley cycle path which we follow upstream to Landshut. The Isar Valley Cycle Path is one of the most beautiful cycle paths we have ever ridden, on today's route there is always pleasant shade due to the unspoilt trees. And you can decide at any time whether you want to ride up on the dam or down on the actual bike path.We make a short stop in Landshut's old town and shortly afterwards leave the Isar cycle path in the direction of Haunwang, where we spend the night.

Today we go from Gütenland to Straubing and we start at the hotel relatively early in the morning. The only real climb of the day comes after three kilometers and leads up to the Steinbühl. From here it goes on a bike path through a beautiful pine forest to Bodenwöhr.From here a cycle path runs alongside the road to Nittenau, from where we follow the Regental cycle path to Regensburg. We make a detour over the stone bridge and take a moment for an ice cream on the bank. Then it goes over the iron bridge back to the other side of the Danube and we follow the Danube cycle path.It is a bit unspectacular, as you are mostly walking below the dam and you only get relatively little of the Danube. So it goes past the Walhalla until we switch to the southern bank of the Danube at Kiefenholz and finally arrive in Straubing through Pfatter and Gmünd.

Today it was mainly on river cycle paths (Waldnaab, Naab and Schwarzach) from Windischeschenbach to Gütenland, shortly after Neunburg in front of the forest. The Waldnaabtal-Weg is very beautiful, especially where it runs directly on the river. The Naab Valley Cycle Path, on the other hand, is not that impressive in terms of landscape and very often crosses the motorway and runs a good distance parallel to it.We found the last part of the tour on the Schwarzachtal cycle path to the destination most beautiful.

We start at the Marktredwitz train station, the destination of today's stage of our 5-day tour is Windischeschenbach.First we go through the Auenpark in Marktredwitz and we leave the city on the bike path towards Waldershof. From here we continue on the road, about 5km uphill through Walbenreuth and Poppendorf until we arrive at the top of the road, turn right into a forest path. From here it goes up to the Weißenstein castle ruins, the absolute highlight of the day. There is a perfect resting place right at the foot of the ruin and we first have a snack before we explore the old walls. From the very top you have a wonderful all-round view. Then we drive back down through the Steinwald Nature Park to Friedenfels.Soon afterwards we meet the beautiful Steinwald cycle path, which we leave shortly before Krummenaab to follow the Fichtelnaab cycle path to Windischeschenbach.

If the weather is mixed, we start in Steinbach a.W. at the Schützenhaus in the direction of the Obelisk. Past the church, we first walk a long way along the main road until we finally turn right and climb up to Windheimer Höhe.From here you have a very nice view of the surrounding low mountain range in good weather, but today the view was severely restricted due to the rain. The path then leads downhill to Windheim and back up towards Kehlbach.Until now, the path was mostly over open spaces with a lot of views, but now it goes through a beautiful forest that continues to the destination. We get to the Ölschnitzsee, a wonderful local recreation area with a water treading basin - at this point in time (May 21), however, it is being completely rebuilt. Then it goes up again a little until we cross the Frankenwaldhochstraße and walk back towards the starting point, where we walk twice a piece on the alternative Rennsteigweg.

We are expanding last year's tour on the Isar cycle path with another stage from Poing. The cycle path along the Isar is really easy to drive. In Freising we then take a break, unfortunately half of the city center is currently under construction and due to Corona essentially only the kebab shop is open. The way back along the Isar Canal is a challenge if you don't have rear suspension. The route is very bumpy both on the dirt road next to the canal and directly on the farm road on the canal.

The Steigla starts in Joditz and initially runs past the Lamitzmühle for a while along the Saale, with some narrow and steep sections to be mastered. After you have passed the Saalesteg, after approx. 3.5 km you come to the Tannbach, the former border with Thuringia, from where you turn right and up to the Petersgrat.Once at the top, you leave the forest path and get to the Petersgrat ridge, which gives it its name - the signs are a bit exaggerated, even if you need a bit of surefootedness, the path to the viewing platform is easy to walk on. From here there is also a path to the left of the platform up to the actual Petersgrat, from where you have a great view of the Saale loop and the Lamitz mill. The rest of the way is then no longer so spectacular, it goes over wide forest roads to Isaar and from there over a small road and field paths back to Joditz.
