To Leißling by train, into the Wethautal, near Utenbach briefly on the sugar beet railway line, through Osterfeld to Kistritz to the Rippach spring and along Rippach. Wethau and Rippach valleys are highly recommended: a quiet but very beautiful landscape, great field and forest paths. In Teuchern there was a coffee break at the Edeka. In Poserna (the former Saxon and unprofitable saltworks), Seeum's birthplace was inspected, and Nietzsche's in Röcken. The same goes for the Gustav Adolf monument in Lützen. From Lützen we tried as best we could to follow the Elsterflossgraben to Friedensdorf. Of course we made a stop at the Wüsteneutzsch lock ruins. From Wallendorfer See we went through domestic and therefore no longer so exciting regions for us. Great weather, no rain! But north wind doesn't matter. Great tour!

Take the train to Haarhausen, take a look at a salt spring and the three equals and then quickly cycle back down the Gera. That was the plan. The reality: the salt spring was nice (and drinkable) but not salty. The driveway to the Kallenberg was a postponement (or order) because it was part of it. The descent from the Kattberg was also steep, I thought it was funny. Not my passengers, they threatened vegan food, the maximum fine! The rest went almost according to plan. Only the sun was exhausting today (wailing at a high level) and the many small poisonous climbs. A strong headwind blew on the leisurely straight cycle path from Arnstadt, easy cycling is different!
But the area around the Drei Gleichen is very, very beautiful, the many narrow paths on the ridges there were really fun! The main ridge of the Thuringian Forest with the Inselsberg also looked over the horizon again and again, and the views were fantastic. But the tour was more demanding than expected. In the end it was a very nice day.

Paulinzella was our goal, the paths played less of a role today. On the (beautiful) Ilm cycle path and the railway path at Gehren it went briskly forwards and backwards. Near Paulinzella we drove over meadow and forest roads, partly through pretty valleys with streams and ponds. The former Paulinzella monastery with its basilica ruins is always impressive and highly recommended!

Today we went into unknown territory (the rough goal was the end of the tunnel), we were rewarded. Very beautiful and varied landscapes. In addition to cold wind, some sun, hail and rain, the weather also gave us a beautiful sky, which enhanced the great views (gloomy on the horizon of the main ridge). A short but great tour!

The driveway into the Reinsberge (a large slab of shell limestone with partly steeply sloping edges) was a crazy idea, it was all about pushing. Wrong direction. Otherwise it was nice up there: pretty narrow paths on shell limestone, juniper bushes, roots and grandiose views. Today we could see the Inselsberg very well. A couple of steeper descents with serpentines were tempting, but were not on the plan today (and with my fellow riders anyway). The area has potential, especially for rougher descents.

Wednesday strolling, it was fun. Above all, the weather made sure of that: hail, some rain, snowfall and rough wind, it was cold too. The landscapes were wonderful, there were nice paths to drive, especially on the Rennsteig, and later a couple of wet and slippery descents (poachers' path and mountain path). The expanded railway line from Langenwiesen to Großbreitenbach is a great way to make altitude meters painlessly and quickly.
At Elgersburg, Edvard Munch is now referred to by writing and picture boards, which I find interesting. He was there several times for a cure and was inspired by the beautiful landscape.

Today it was finally sunnier and therefore warmer. Great views, especially from Plänckner's view. There were long passages with snow on the Rennsteig, which drove very well. A handful of beautiful single trails were also there today, it was a lot of fun.

Fun round: between Saale and Elster we drove on reconditioned railway lines (clear, disused). Most of it was asphalt, a bit of gravel and rumble path was also there. We had a lot of sun, only the last few kilometers in Halle it was raining and now there is a lot of wind in front of the balcony, lucky.
