The Franconian Forest and the Fichtelgebirge are rightly called “Bavaria's very rich corner”, because hardly anywhere else in Europe are there more numerous and varied rock formations in such a small area. The geological subsurface creates a variety of landscapes and the landscape in turn shapes the uniqueness of people and culture. The “Franconian Stone Kingdom” quality trail - designed as a 75-kilometer stage route - pays tribute to this unique mixture. A lot comes together on the “Steinreich” - not just granite with limestone and slate, but also “Oberland” with “Unterland”, Buddhism with devotion to Mary and “faithful Catholic Bamberg” meets “defensive Protestant margravial”. Four daily stages from 13 to 24 km in length connect more than 40 selected waypoints with a geological and cultural background, 22 of which are equipped with explanatory display boards.

From Sand am Main, the ascent led us directly up to the Hermannsberg and the summit cross there. Here the hiker can enjoy the view of the Main Valley and a wonderful view of the Haßberge. Along the edge of the quarries you come to the “Sander Kronberg” vineyard, either below or above the vineyards, past the Hufnagelbrunnen. At the “Storchenkeller” it is worth taking another look into the Main Valley.
After leaving the forest, past the vineyards "Sander Himmelsbühl" and "Fischersberge", you will follow meadow paths to the Sander Baggersee and then back to the starting point.

The Panoramaweg presents itself as a natural hiking trail along the slope edge above the summer houses vineyards. It gives hikers numerous views into the Main Valley towards Ochsenfurt and Würzburg, to Sommerhausen and Eibelstadt.Route: Originated as a beaten path over the embankments of the adjacent quarries, the route of the panorama path has developed into a popular hiking trail. Today it represents a section of the “Via Romea” pilgrimage route. It is not always easy to walk, especially for the descent to Kleinochsenfurt you need sturdy shoes.
To get to the Panoramaweg, hikers leave Sommerhausen through the Ochsenfurter Tor and walk half-left along the Schleifweg. At the end of it you keep the direction and hike through the vineyards to the stone Bocksbeutel. At the intersection keep to the right and after about 30 meters you will reach a narrow entrance in the bushes. Now the panorama path always follows the slope edge, benches at the edge of the path invite you to linger and enjoy. The Kleinochsenfurt square limestone quarry geotope offers a rare habitat for specialized species.
After the descent on Kleinochsenfurter Berg, the way back does not take place on the edge of the slope, but first in the valley below the vineyards along the old federal road and parallel to the Main. Then the path slowly climbs up again and once again guides the hiker through the vineyards. This is how you get back to Sommerhausen. If the route is too long for you, you can take the bus back to Sommerhausen in Kleinochsenfurt.Worth seeing: Panoramic views over the Main valley, stone Bocksbeutel, geotope square limestone quarry Kleinochsenfurt, old freight elevator from the former quarry.

Starting point: Raiffeisen sports hall, Dorfplatzstr., 97291 Thüngersheim. The Thüngersheimer Höhenweg does not require hikers to conquer large differences in altitude - instead, fantastic views ensure that you feel exhilarated.Route: The car park at the Thüngersheimer sports hall serves as the starting point for the Höhenweg, which first leads through the Würzburger Tor and then turns left over Friedhofsstraße. This is how you reach the wayside shrine at the Flutgraben. The path now follows the Sommerhöllsquelle to the junction in the forest. A slight ascent leads in the direction of the wind turbines to the Main hiking trail (signposted: blue "M" on a white background).
Follow it to the left and reach the connecting path to Retzstadt. After about 100 meters you leave the Mainwanderweg to the right and hike over the height at the model airfield to Breitfeldhöhe. Here you have a wonderful view of the Spessart and the Rhön.
The path leads back to the Main hiking trail via a long left curve. From here you continue to a "Kreuzschlepper" - the figure of a cross-bearing Jesus ’- and turn down to the Weinbergsweg. Head north past the St. Michael wayside shrine back to the sports hall.
Sights: vineyards, St. Michael lookout point and wayside shrine, tractor figure, Breitfeldhöhe lookout point.

In the turmoil of the inflation year 1923, the local communal brewers of Pegnitz were not spared. The exploding raw material prices could no longer be financed. Eight brave brewers managed to survive through a joint communal brewery - the Pegnitz Brewers' Association was born. After a short period of prosperity, the war and post-war years almost brought the end of the small brewery, but it was possible to turn things around in 1950 and become a medium-sized brewery. The Flinderer tradition is one of the peculiarities of Pegnitz. From April to July every year during this fifth season of the year, the Flinderer beer is served in several taverns (see tavern). In addition to the Böheim Hell, there is also a dark beer, a wheat beer and two strong beers. Further information can be found at: getraenkeweiss.de
The history of the Jura Bräu started well before 1900 in Hauptstrasse 63 in Pegnitz, the current location of the Dolomiti ice cream parlor and the Lämpla Pils bar. At that time still known as the button brewery, malt was produced here in the cellar, dried in the municipal drought house and then processed into wort in the communal brewhouse. The beer was then stored in the castle cellar. Today the recipes and names of the beers as well as the Flinderer tradition are still reminiscent of those old days. Today, brewing is more modern - in the brewery on Buchauer Berg. In addition to a Pils, the Jurabräu also offers a lager, a Zwickl and a dark beer, and during the flinder season there is a tasty special beer with 5.2%. Today we hiked a lap that Loki recently rode his bike. In principle, it's almost the original tour, just built in a few more inclines with wonderful views. Thank you, my dear, for this previously unknown terrain. We liked it very much!

During this little evening round, which began with a big rubber duck on the Wiesent and ended with a shower 🚿 from above, I spontaneously remembered the old hit by Frank Zander, which I haven't heard for a long time:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone 😘
