The Fichtelgebirge has been on my wish list for a long time. As a kind of exploratory tour, today we went from Bad Berneck in a west-east direction to the Czech border and back.On the way there, I first followed the White Main to the vicinity of its source and on to the Fichtelsee. Along the bike route I later reached Wunsiedel and - continuing on an eastward course - finally my turning point Hohenberg an der Eger. The border to the Czech Republic runs along the Eger.
On my somewhat longer way back, the Eger remained my constant companion. The highlight was certainly the wild and romantic Wellertal at the beginning. Then it went via Marktleuthen to Röslau, which is considered the center of the Fichtelgebirge and promises a twelve-peak view. I also paid a visit to the Eger waterfall at Thusmühle until I finally reached Weißenstadt. The Weißenstädter See is fed, among other things, by the Eger, which flows through the reservoir. We continued along the Eger to near its source. Following the ascent, I soon reached the whetstone, which offered a great view of the ox head. Barely finished with a few photos, it started to drizzle, which is why I hurriedly started the descent, which offered a fun compensation for the accumulated altitude. I made it back to Bad Berneck with an occasional drizzle and was able to pack the bike on the carrier in peace before the first real drops began to fall ✌️Fortunately, I had already made the decisive basis for a successful tour by choosing my bike. Given the high proportion of gravel roads as well as forest and field paths, I would certainly be desperate with the gravel bike that I had previously considered. So it was an all-round successful tour with a flood of impressions 😊

In the best weather I did another Altmühl stage today.
From my previous turning point in Colmberg, my way led me via Leutershausen and Herrieden to the Altmühlsee. After a nice lunch break, my way back was via Wolframs-Eschenbach and Ansbach back to my starting point.
Since the odometer was only 98km and I had skipped my overdue coffee in Ansbach in view of the well-frequented old town, I quickly cycled up to Colmberg Castle (highly recommended because of the view 👍), before finally going to the Colmberg estate for my coveted hot drink along with a delicious side dish came 😁Side note: the residues from the floods after the continuous rain were still very present, especially on the way there. Along the way there was hardly a meadow in which the water was not (often ankle-deep). And there was an omnipresent smell like stale brackish water. Except for the documented puddle crossings, the paths were free and this didn’t affect my enjoyment of the tour.

Since you better not miss any opportunity this summer, another spontaneous afternoon roundDespite the mixed weather forecast, I quickly convinced my weaker self by heading for a nearby café as my first destination. Too bad that it was closed against the stated opening times and so the longed-for coffee and cake vanished into thin air 🤯
But after the pig dog had already been defeated, the tour could continue. After a visit to the Glösberg near Gräfenneuses, the next surprise awaited in the Steigerwald. The damage that the constant rain has done to the paths here is really considerable and exceeds anything I have seen in our forests so far.
Hardly out of the forest then a rain front pulled over me, from which I was fortunately able to save myself in a bus stop in Kirchschönbach ✌️
In view of the dark clouds, I decided to forego the coffee and cake offer in Prichsenstadt to be on the safe side 🙈 and took the way back via Gerolzhofen, where there was at least one 🍦 to finish off

In the rainy summer you have to take advantage of the opportunities 🙄
After the weather at the weekend was well below my expectations, today a moderate after-work tour on the Main. In the end I was too late for a stop at the ice cream parlor, but the great views in the vineyards between Sommerach and Nordheim were worth it ✌️
I was also able to get an idea of the persistent flooding by the Volkach (in Volkach) or alternate routes were necessary in places.

Between a lot of work, there was at least time for a little afternoon tour today 😊
Most of the floods from yesterday's continuous rain were surprisingly eliminated on my tour. Hopefully it will stay that way and not much will follow. The Main has obviously already reached a critical level. In addition, I (for the first time) retracted the freshly arrived shoes with a click. Definitely unfamiliar and initially not without risk. Two times I literally got off the pedal at the last moment before it would have knocked me over 😬
I have now got the hang of it, but it will certainly take some time before getting in and out of the car is intuitive 😉A beautiful Sunday! 🙋♂️

Now he's up to something GAGA again and wanted to have a coffee at Bohne 37 on Sunday.Bean 37 is closed on Sunday. @sanktjohanser would grind the back door of his great shop especially for our first meeting, @oidawolf has already reported on it komoot.de/tour/399873179 for one or the other bean and bake croissants. We are very grateful for this really great gesture, we still need a fixed, defined time frame and approx. Number of participants for a corresponding enjoyment experience. Not that the Danners Hary munch everything on their own.So we would finally sniff each other, talk shop, have fun, treat Antonio to his coffee and plan out into the blue to take control of all GAGAists.Who wants to be a real GAGAist:
