It snowed a little this morning, so I used the lunch break to take a short walk in the snow. It's nice when the snow crunches under your shoes.

Actually, the hike should still lead through the valley, but unfortunately the snow was only enough for the high altitude, so we stayed higher up to enjoy some snow 😀❄☃️

Today tried again one of the hiking trails close to home, the Zwei-Täler-Weg with the number 51. You start in Huppenbroich at the chapel, to go from there to the actual starting point, the church in Kesternich.
The original route can be found here:
The name says it all, it goes through two valleys, the Eiserbach and the Tiefenbach. As expected, a bit muddy in the valleys, away from the valleys, often over asphalt.
A highlight today was certainly the young beef, which looked at me with a milk-smeared snout as I approached, in order to then continue the meal with mom, this sight was just too sweet 😊. It tastes best with nuts.
The "descent" from the Weihrauchberg requires some surefootedness, as there is loose slate under the leaves, so be careful.
In the Tiefenbachtal, which is now very familiar to me, you usually walk directly on the course of the brook, which is very nice, in the Eiserbachtal, on the other hand, the brook is a little further down in the valley. But the path is a little drier here.

After yesterday there was only gray soup and you could only guess at the cows in the pasture, today you finished work a little earlier and did a little lap in barely noticeable drizzle before dark.

While my car was getting winter flakes on it, I took advantage of the spring-like weather and walked down to the Rur.
It is clear that now that the winter tires are on, it is getting warmer again 🙄

To compensate, swing on the (trekking) bike and ride down to the Rursee.
At the Rursee itself it was a bit fuller, many hikers were on the way. But that only between Einruhr and Schwammenauel, after that it was nice and empty again 🙂.
But the weather fairy made fun of us, there was no sun at all in the afternoon, it stayed overcast the whole time, but at least it was dry.
The sun was only shining on the horizon, so far away.
Still a very nice tour. You have to be careful with the leaves now, you never really know what is underneath.
The round includes a short push piece up to the Urft dam.
In the second half I slowed down a bit in terms of photo technology, the autumn colors are just too beautiful, otherwise I would never have come back 😂.
It's a shame, the colors would have been even more splendid in the sun.

      Started just before sunrise.
Until a few days ago the leaves were still clinging convulsively to the trees, but they were no longer able to withstand yesterday's storm.
Today is the first run this fall, which really felt that way.

A nice long and varied route, but it doesn't deserve the addition "Steig".
The path leads almost exclusively over wide forestry roads, meadows and field paths, but also over asphalt and through tranquil villages.
Only a very short stretch on Michelsberg, up to the St. Michael Chapel, would have deserved the name Steig.
At first I was skeptical as to whether the path could be walked at all due to storm damage, but said it was walkable, so off we went.
Only in two places were the paths a bit washed out, but still passable.
Shortly before the Dreisbach, you need to be sure-footed and there are man-deep washouts along the Kruchenbach, so be careful here too.
You should be prepared for a little surprise shortly before the end of the tour.
Because only the steel girders still exist from the bridge over the Erft in Eicherscheid.
Those who do not suffer from vertigo or are very sure-footed can balance over the porters at their own risk.
After running 20 kilometers, I didn't trust myself anymore and was able to pass the Erft at a narrow point.
Alternatively, you should not follow the signs away from the street along the Erft, but simply continue along Ahrweilerstraße to the parking lot.
The residents in Eicherscheid now certainly have other problems than worrying about signposting a diversion for hiking trails.
