A nice late autumn hike in a part of Thuringia that we hardly know until now. We parked below the Kulm in a large free parking lot for hikers. It goes through natural forest with some views through the long valley to Unterpreilipp. From there a very beautiful hiking trail leads along the Saale on the Rudolstädter Rivera to the Schillerhöhe. Strangely, the access is blocked by a site fence (but only from this side). The lockdown didn't shoot us. We went the way anyway. The Saale is very idyllic and natural here. There are impressive red sand stone walls on the right-hand side. We would have liked an interesting billboard here. After the Rudolstädter Rivera you can still climb the Schillerhöhe. rudolstadt.de/kultur/schiller/schillershoehe. We rest at the Volkstedter Saalewehr and watch the ducks. Then it goes over the large meadow via Cumbach to the 14 column cave. We had actually imagined this to be more impressive. facebook.com/preilipp/posts/1407169966006980 Still interesting. Through Oberpreilip, past the 3 linden trees, it goes quite steeply through a fairly natural forest back to the Kulm. There we end our hike with the ascent to the tower (freely accessible, no entrance fee). The nearby Kulmberghaus is currently under construction.
Overall a nice hike. Without Komoot, however, we would not have found each other. The signage was very sketchy.

Since the weather was not so inviting today, we decided to just do a little lap not far from us.
So we went once again around the Immertal reservoir in Friemar combined with a tour of the place.
In the end we are still to the Grinwell. We could have given ourselves to see no more springs and no fountains.
The lap was still good for us, even if there weren't any major highlights.

Very interesting autumn tour with many highlights in wonderful sunny weather. Our hike begins with a tour of the Hummelshain Castle Park. Interesting boards can tell us a lot about the history of the property. foerderverein-schloss-hummelshain.de
      de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neues_Schloss_Hummelshain,_Jagd-_und_Residenzschloss
We continue through the colorful autumn forest to the Rieseneck hunting ground. The terrain is well preserved and you can easily imagine the hunting.
      de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagdanlage_Rieseneck
Past the picturesque half-timbered house Herzogstuhl fachwerkhaus.de/herzogstuhl.html and the Würzbach church, we walk through the Würzbach valley with the seven springs towards the end. A great hike in an area that was unknown to us until then and has a lot of interesting things to offer. At the parking lot, an older man spoke to us who had worked for many years in the Hummelshain youth work center. Very interesting.

Today we are spending the last day of our vacation in Bremen. In the morning it rains quite heavily. So we first have a cozy breakfast in our small holiday apartment. Then we use the tram to travel to the so-called Überseestadt, an old port area that is now used in a variety of new ways. We visit the port museum in the old warehouse XI. Here we get an insight into the varied, often difficult work in the port. The museum is worthwhile. We finish with an extensive stroll through the so-called Überseestadt. This is an interesting area with extensively renovated old buildings and contemporary architecture. A very interesting stroll.

After our leisurely breakfast in our room, we stroll along the Weser to the Böttcherhof, where our interesting city tour begins. The city guide can inspire us for the city and also shows us corners that we would not have found on our own. I find the Schnoorviertel particularly beautiful with its small houses and the town hall, which is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon we take a tour of the Weser that takes us to the ports and along the many new houses in Hafencity and back to the pier. On the way back to our small holiday apartment, we walk across the green areas of the city moat. In the quarter we stroll along beautiful side streets with typical Bremen terraced houses. Well worth seeing.
Conclusion: Bremen is a great city well worth seeing!
There is a lot of cycling!

Last night we stayed at the Hotel Niedersächsischer Hof in Verden for lack of alternatives. A large, aging house. Dinner yesterday and breakfast today were good though.
After packing, we take a quick look around the center of Verdens. I still visit the impressive cathedral. We'll keep the horse museum for the next time.
Then it starts again. At first the temperature is only 4 ° C, so our hats can be used again.
We pass the Badener Berg, a small hill that one would not have expected here. In Achim we find a small snack bar in the city center that now offers Kaiserschmarren.
We continue along various canals on which there is a lot of shipping today. Sometimes the bike path leads directly along the top of the dike, which makes it easy prey for the nasty headwind. We are now crossing the 600 km mark on our bike tour. The maize harvest is also in full swing, so that we often have to avoid various agricultural vehicles. The closer we get to the city of Bremen, the more the scenic charm of the route diminishes. We pass commercial areas and numerous industrial plants.
In the meantime we suspect that we have already stayed in our current quarter in September 2012. This assumption is confirmed on arrival. We live in a lovingly furnished small holiday apartment "Guest Dreams in the Quarter". This is also very convenient, so that you can walk to the most important sights of Bremen.
Later we take a look around the nearby center of Bremen and stroll through the old town quarter "Schoor"
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow we will have time to take a closer look at the city before our train home is reserved on Saturday.
It was a very nice bike tour along the Fulda and Weser and we are happy to have done this tour.

A great breakfast awaits us today in the cafe of our pension. Since it is raining we stroll a little further ahead of us. Around 10 a.m. we go to the Lower Saxony asparagus museum in Niemburg, which was very interesting. The funny thing is that we didn't see asparagus fields either yesterday or today, although this area is such an asparagus stronghold.
After visiting the museum, the sun actually shines. At a cool 12 degrees the weather has everything ready for us today: rain, sun, dark clouds, wind and a rainbow over the Weser.
Of course we will also get wet today, which was to be expected with the weather, can still shelter in time before we get soaking wet.
In fact, we accidentally drive a piece of the alternative route today, saving a few kilometers. Today we can see lock canals again, so that the cargo ships do not have to extend the wide arches of the Weser. We take a coffee break in Hoya.
Today we are impressed by many small villages with beautiful brick courtyards with their typical Lower Saxony farmhouses.
The remaining kilometers to Verden we cross the Weser and after a few kilometers the Aller, which flows northwest of Verden into the Weser.
We cycle through Verden and spend the night in the Hotel Niedersachenhof. We are allowed to park our bikes in a conference room.
A little sadness spreads. Just one more bike day from Verden to Bremen! Then we still have time to visit Bremen for two days.

After the 5th stage of our Weserradwegtour we take a look at Nienburg. A pretty town with half-timbered houses and brick buildings. A visit to the Lower Saxony Asparagus Museum is worthwhile and interesting.

After breakfast we pack our things and start cycling again. The television tower (Minden 2) is still shrouded in fog.
We visit the waterway cross near Minden. This is where the Weser and Mittelland Canal cross. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasserstra%C3%9Fenkreuz_Minden
Every now and then it rains a little. Fortunately, the showers pass quickly.
Behind Schlüsseldorf we can watch the locks of bulk cargo ships on the lock canal. Very interesting.

The landscape is characterized by numerous lakes, from which sand and gravel are extracted with great technology.
In Schliisselburg there is a historic Scheunenviertel to visit. We reach our stage location Nienburg / Weser around 4 p.m. The accommodation is reserved in the “Zum Alten Posthof” guesthouse. A cozy house with a café, which unfortunately is closed today.
