Today we had a lot of fun on a small tour between Rothenbach and Birgeler Urwald. For the four-legged friends, there were streams, a forest lake and various types of natural sand (which used to be mined there) to explore. Many small enchanted paths through beautiful forest areas and lost places were also on the program.

Clouds, sunshine, rain and sleet accompanied us on the beautiful tour of the Villeseen. There were a lot of water birds to see. The jetties on the lakes are great, there are a lot of access points to the individual lakes, many with small benches. A route that was fun and was not very busy during the week (and in the mixed weather).Note: The paths are a mixture of wide paths and small trails, some of them extremely muddy. One stretch was closed, so we had to fight our way through the forest a bit.

Today we paid a visit to the Druidenstein, an approx. 20 meter high basalt rock in the Westerwald in the natural region of Sieg. A magical place! For those interested in hiking: Due to the extensive clear-cutting around the Windhahn mountain and the paths that are heavily furrowed and muddy due to tools, we cannot recommend the route. If you want to explore the worth seeing Druidenstein and the Otto Tower, you might find another loop that is more appealing. Unfortunately, there are no recommendation stars (🌟).

With the nice weather this time we were drawn to the Moselle loop near Bremm. A great area, the Calmonter via ferrata is still on the list. Today with the four-legged friends it would have been too stressful. We all had a lot of fun with the route over the Calmonter Höhenweg.P.S. The tour as we planned and hiked it has two minor flaws:
- The first 2 kilometers to the Ellerbachtal are on a gravel farm road.
- Towards the end, Komoot steers us straight up a slope in the forest. A path was not evident. If this passage seems too steep or slippery for you, you can avoid this ascent with a detour on the main path.I was secretly filmed while taking pictures:
