To get back to the railway line, I walked a bit on the 66 lakes hiking trail, which I skipped last year because I was following an alternative route.

The city hiking trail around Märkisch Buchholz is marked with a green bar. It's quite nice, but in my opinion doesn't offer much in addition to what I already knew. Only the perspective was a little different.

Today the Paul-Gerhardt-Weg showed itself with a hint of winter on this rather short stage, which apart from the view of the Tonsee and the section along the Dahme has a rather easy bridging character.

For the first Advent, the penultimate, somewhat longer stage of the Paul-Gehrhardt-Weg continued. I had to get up at 5 today so that I could catch the ICE at 5:22 a.m. via Weimar and Bitterfeld to Berlin, so that I could get on the bus to Märkisch Buchholz at half past three.
In the morning sun I could start there. The weather turned cloudy and colder around noon. I arrived in Schlepzig just before dusk.
Overall, I already knew a few sections. The heather lakes in particular are always popular. I found it quite nice on the Spree near Leibsch and the Dammweg section to Leibsch is quite scenic. I found the road section and the paved path just before Schlepzig rather less beautiful. It is also a bit monotonous at the Dahme Umflutkanal. Still a good stage.

Today I accepted an invitation from LOradler to take part in this group hike, which led a piece through the Chemnitz Valley on partially unmarked paths. Occasionally it was quite often over fallen trees, so that there was always a certain feeling of adventure with it. There was also mulled wine and speculoos to match tomorrow's first Advent. Many thanks to LOradler for organizing this entertaining round! 👍

Done! 🥳 The Frankenweg is now complete.
Overall, I can't judge the stage that well because it was pretty foggy for a large part. But I think that it is quite interesting overall, as you also meet the only lake on the entire route, the Hahnenkammsee.
From Wemding I had to walk another 8km to the Otting-Weilheim train station, which is why I am now limping slightly through my apartment, so that I came to 42km. There is no public transport in Wemding on Sunday.
Overall, the Frankenweg was a really great tour, especially in Upper Franconia. Between Hersbruck and Weißenburg some of the interesting attractions are missing on the way. After that it will be much more spectacular again in the Altmühltal Nature Park, where I have to study the other tours and hike afterwards. But I would probably prefer shorter hiking trails for the next few months than a tour of over 500km.

Contrary to the usual tradition that I drive home after every tour, I spend the night at my destination today, as there is no other way here by public transport. In the monastery inn Heidenheim I just ate a monastery steak and drank beer from the Fürst Carl Schlossbrauerei Ellingen. I liked today's stage a lot, because of the Steineren Rinne and the Gelber Berg, even if the gray weather did not allow for too wide a view.

As a Saxon employee, I had time off today and was able to take care of a trail project that I had started, but for which I didn't really have the time or inclination in the last 2 years: the pilgrimage to Wilsnack. But now it should continue after I have revised my planning and stage division again.
So today I hiked the last stage from Göricke to Bad Wilsnack. In the first half you walk all the time on a little-used road and look at the stone churches in the villages. The second half runs more on forest paths and has a very impressive highlight to offer with the Plattenburg. Unfortunately, I could only see the destination, the Wunderblutkirche in Wilsnack, from the outside because it closes at 4 p.m. Maybe it will work out someday if I do the route towards Tangermünde.

Today we went straight on again on the Paul-Gerhardt-Weg from Mittenwalde to Groß Köris. I had a lot of fun on the tour because the landscape is much more varied than the previous stage. It offers lakes, nice deciduous and extensive pine forests with the typical sandy paths. Nevertheless, there are small weaknesses: After Motzen you have a rather monotonous concrete slab or paved path to cross the motorway and railway line, which doesn't work so well and in the end it pulls through Groß Köris quite a bit.
