An old school friend was visiting today, with whom we took a short walk through Treptower Park. Towards the end of the tour, the sun even dared to come out on the Rummelsburger Bucht for a very short time.

On Saturday we went on a hike from Trebbin through the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park. Trebbin can be easily reached from Berlin by regional train (RE 3 in the direction of Falkenberg (Elster)). From the train station we first went through the city of Trebbin (Bahnhofstrasse, Berliner Strasse, Beelitzer Strasse, Waldstrasse). The first point of contact was the 21.7m high observation tower on the Vorderen Löwendorfer Berg (103m), from which you have a great all-round view and so you can explore your hike from above. From there we hiked on along the Glauer Tal game reserve to Glau (City of Peace) east of Blankensee. Before we explored the City of Peace, we made a short detour to the NaturParkZentrum building at the game reserve. The city of peace with its checkered past was an interesting discovery. At the entrance to the village we met a group of children who were playing, who obviously noticed that we didn't know our way around and immediately offered their help. The place was founded in the 1920s as a private settlement (social community on a religious basis) by Joseph Weißenberg and expropriated by the Nazi regime in 1935 and seized by the Waffen SS. From 1942-1945 it served as a branch of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. After the war the Red Army took over as Glau garrison. After the withdrawal of the Red Army, the settlement was transferred back to the Johannische Kirche as the legal successor to the settlement cooperative. The settlement also includes a small petting zoo, which is well worth seeing, north of the site at the foot of the Glauer Berge (Fuchsberg (86m), Kesselberg (91m) and Kapellenberg (79m)), over which we hiked to Blankensee. There is a lot to see in the place: the castle park (Sudermann Park) with the manor house on the Nieplitz, the Seechen with the bird watching tower and the Blankensee with its boardwalk. From Blankensee we went on sandy, but easy to walk paths along the Glauer Tal game reserve to Schönhagen with its airfield. At the entrance to the airfield you can admire an old small airplane. From the airfield we went over the Kienberg (90m) and the Hinteren Löwendorfer Berg (86m) back to Trebbin.

Today was exactly the right day to do one of our standard tours by bike again. We always like the round around the Müggelsee very much, especially with this super nice weather. We weren't the only ones who thought so, though. It felt like the whole city was on the move on legs and wheels.

Sunday walk in the sunshine on one of our standard laps along the Rummelsburger See, Spree, the Britzer connecting canal and Heidekampgraben. Except for the Britzer connecting canal, there was no stopping the ice surfaces. Even on the Spree between the ships in Treptower Harbor and between Treptower Park and Insel der Jugend people were on the ice. A particularly large number of them ran on the Rummelsburger See and the carp pond in Treptower Park. There was even musical accompaniment on the carp pond.

In changing weather with sun and clouds, we made one of our standard routes from the Hirschgarten S-Bahn station to the Hoppegarten S-Bahn station, which essentially goes along the Erpe. On the Erpe up to Heidemühle, as always with such good hiking weather, there was a lot of walking, cross-country skiing and sometimes on wheels. After that it got much quieter. We only met a few hikers. At the horse racing track in Hoppegarten, the entrance to the left of the ticket booth at the main entrance, through which you could otherwise always get to the track grounds, was closed today. Instead, this time we came from Goethestrasse via car park D to the club grandstand with a view of the other main grandstands.

At the end of the week and the day in the home office, I did an evening tour along the Spree from Elsen to Oberbaumbrücke and back. The way there and back ran along the Rummelsburger See. Today, unlike the days before, the police stood with a megaphone on Paul-und-Paula-Ufer to get the people off the ice.

Because the whole day was full of video conferences today, I could only do a little lap after working from home. A little story on the side: In my last video conference with a French colleague from Paris it turned out that he is a passionate cyclist who is currently planning a tour from Prague to Hamburg. On this occasion he asked what I plan my tours with. So of course I recommended komoot to him.PS: Three days ago the Rummelsburger See was almost free of ice. Today we discovered the first ice skater in the middle of the lake. I wouldn't dare to do that (yet).
