It is well known that there are many failures in the Harz Mountains. The term terminus technicus describes a side drainage of the watercourses for regulation and maintenance purposes. Today I involuntarily added another one.
The tour was supposed to be called "The Eastern and Western Gateway to the Horizon". This name is unmistakably based on the Memphite theology of the Old Kingdom. 🤣The route of the tour was planned on two slightly different routes from my home to the Brocken summit and back. Nothing came of it. At short notice there was a new evening commitment. The start was brought forward to midnight by me. The thickest fog slowed me down between Krebeck and Hattorf. The paths suggested by Komoot were partly overgrown or swampy. The route in the Harz was particularly suboptimal for my bike. Much too late I reached the hut at the triangular post and decided to turn back despite the 4m distance left. In order to get home as quickly as possible, the second change of plan took place, and I chose the Siebertal for the quick descent to Herzberg. On the northern slope of the Red Mountain, I received the call from the broom wagon team with the instruction to go to Gieboldehausen for collection. - Premature end!
Well, despite everything, it was fun.

My goal was a Bronze Age burial ground in the west of the Seulinger Forest.
The GPS device hung up several times yesterday. The track was completed with smaller sections of the path. The speed is certainly closer to 5 km / h.
Inspired by "bike posing" by other Komootlers, I was also creative in this regard.

In 1973 the combined community of Radolfshausen was formed. It includes the villages of Seeburg, Bernshausen, Seulingen, Ebergötzen, Holzerode, Landolfshausen, Mackenrode, Falkenhagen, Potzwenden, Waake and Bösinghausen.
The Samtgemeinde Radolfshausen rightly points out the wonderful landscape and the well-established network of paths on its website:
There is a list of currently 13 bike and hiking tour suggestions including a loving description of many sights.
The Radolfshausen circular route is not listed. This is marked with a white R on a black background. The marker is not always easy to find. It is advisable to load a GPS track onto a handheld device or to use a map in the traditional way.
There is no specific starting point or parking lot with a hiking map. Several suitable starting points are equally possible, as the path leads through some villages and past parking spaces. Because of the favorable transport connections, coming from Göttingen, we decided to leave Ebergötzen again. According to its expanse, the path leads through different types of landscape: within sight of the Seeburger See through wet meadows and agricultural areas, through the higher-lying places Waake, Bösinghausen and Holzerode to the limestone region of the Plessewald and the Hünstollen. In Ebergötzen itself we deviated a little from the original route.

...that is the question.
In the course of life, people are sometimes faced with difficult and far-reaching decisions. This is what happened to me tonight when I found my long-forgotten running shoes behind my whiskey collection ...
How the decision turned out can be seen from the track.

South of the Mackenröder peak there is an entertaining path "hard on the edge", as a highlight aptly describes it. Cracks, crevices and rubble show that the landscape is more in motion here than in many other places. The forest floor below the edge of the abortion is also known as the earth glacier, as the surface of the earth has shifted more than a meter eastwards here in some years.
This area is only criss-crossed by narrow paths and game passes. It is not very practicable.

The Klappenhauwand is an abandoned sandstone quarry above the B446 between Ebergötzen and Hölle brickworks. Beyond that, it has nothing to do with the Hauwand in the Wendebachtal.
The Klappenhauwand offers climbing opportunities in good rock quality over a length of 150 meters and a wall height of up to 20 meters. According to DAV-Felsinfo there are already 26 routes of difficulty levels V - IX. So far there has been neither a new tour ban nor other restrictions.
