Made with friends years ago:
By bus from Sliema to the next bus stop in the village. Comfortable stroll to the temple complex. At the edge of the village we were asked by a wizened herbalist to skin a dead snake lying by the roadside, which we then did with a pocket knife (it really was!).
In Hagar Qim we ignored the self-appointed car park attendant, who presumably took the Maltese lira himself in his rental car during the last visit, and paid our entrance fee at the ticket booth. At that time there was only one gate with the house in front, the whole area with both temples freely accessible and under the open sky. Impressive alone the large concave front, but also the exploration of all chambers. After the final circling around Hagar Qim, we went on the straight paved path to the (even older) temple Mnjadra, which is no less impressive.

Today I finally made the first stage of the Stockalperweg.
After the Stockalper Castle we probably missed a branch, so that we first visited the Saltina Gorge up to the fireplace. Then it went up steeply. In the hamlet of Brei, we have reached the Stockalperweg again and dutifully stuck to the signs.
The first stage of the whole Via Stockalper is considered to be the most strenuous; that gives courage for the next stages ...
