I'll make tea at Sheriffo's and leave for Sukuta at 07:20. After two days of well-developed asphalt road, today I choose the alternative to the slopes. For a long time there is a sandy donkey cart track except for a fairly usable wide road on the Senegalese side that leads to Pata. Of course, I'm nowhere near as good as on the road. In return, I have a beautiful landscape with almost no cars. And I won't see a border post anywhere between Senegal and Gambia.
Another place called Kerewan; here a bread with bean paste for breakfast. A cold cola for the first time in Pata. I decide not to take the road to Brikama Ba to the north, but continue straight on the slope. After the break with a Peulh family, people recommend that I take the path to Salanga and come across a new track that leads directly to the asphalt road.
Lots of people sit around the town near the watering hole. I also take a rest and am invited by a woman to come into the courtyard and have something to eat. A bowl of rice and a sauce made from onions, okra pods and small noodles.
At 3 p.m. I want to continue, find the direct road and come out just before the Janjanbureh intersection. A policeman questions me, then on, another 20 km to Bansang.
Margie's Lodge was full; Bintas Paradise Lodge right on the Gambia River isn't bad either.

Early on the street, it's just starting to get light. The first people sit on the side of the road and wait for a car to take them with them. Soon the children are awake too and the first Toubab Toubab calls, or give give me, give me money, can be heard.
Before Iliassa it goes over a branch of the Gambia River. In the village then omelette breakfast where children watch me curiously.
After Farafenni for the first time now over the new Gambia bridge. I was in Soma around 12:15, called Sheriffo and said that I would be there today.
At 3:00 p.m. I wanted to take a break, saw a family and many girls sitting under a shade roof and wanted to join them. But after parking the bike I didn't pay attention, ran into the corrugated iron roof and fell bleeding to the ground. Oh dear, people were very scared. I had some water poured over my head and pressed a handkerchief over the wound. Then look for disinfectants and plasters and first aid continued. So that wasn't about resting, it just gave me a new adrenaline rush. Of course I stayed there for a while before continuing.
It was hot and my energy went down. I want to take a break every 10 km. At 100 km a few people were sitting again and one girl was doing the other's hair. Since the next larger city was only a few kilometers away, I soon drove on, stopped there again and drank an energizing Nescafé. I wasn't allowed to photograph the two women from the Resto; the little boys, on the other hand, literally jostled their way into the picture. Arrived at Sheriffo around 5 p.m. after 120 km.

We set off at around 06:45 - it was just getting light. Nevertheless, many cars were already on their way towards Serrekunda Market. Then a little quieter. At the ferry, nobody was standing in line at the ticket counter, I was able to spend 50 D for bike + driver immediately and in peace. The ship was just entering. It took around 30 minutes to swap people and cars, then 1 hour for the crossing. I am talking to my neighbor Omar and across the street a little girl is smiling at me. In Barra quickly out of the hustle and bustle at the harbor and a few hundred meters later breakfast break at the food stands in front of the clinic. Sona sold me a bean paste sandwich.
Turn right towards North Bank Road, first a stretch of dirt road, then onto the asphalt road. It's getting warmer and warmer and I can feel a clear headwind. For a long time my speed fluctuates between 15 and 18 km / h.
Short break shortly after 1 p.m. at the police stop in Kuntauir, 19 km from Kerewan. There I go back to the Demba Fula Clinic guest house. In the evening to a restaurant on the main street. Back at the accommodation we talk to the international election observers.

Rosi led and 16 men followed. Unconventional turning maneuvers in the city and winding paths over Eiche and Golm to the Wublitzbrücke on the Zernsee.
We explored the most beautiful corners of the island of Töplitz, briefly inspected the wine cellar (and quickly bought something) before Rosi invited us to the mountain for a wine tasting. Then a piece of cake at the bakery and back to Potsdam. - A nice autumn sun bike trip!
