Contrary to expectations, the weather today was also favorable for a longer tour. Since I didn't have any decent photos of the Grand Ducal Sepulchral Chapel in Karlsruhe, this was my goal. At first, the strong tail wind helped me get a quick cut. Since there were longer forest passages on the way back, it was bearable.
In contrast to Heidelberg and Mannhein, there are real bike paths in Karlsruhe that are fun to use. I was able to really enjoy this on the section from Durlach to the university.
The drive on Friedrichtaler-Allee is also like the motorway.
The burial chapel was open today and there were correspondingly many interested parties. Still, the outdoor shots were enough for me.
No sparing was made here on pomp and furnishings.
It's a shame that you have to make such a long detour in Karlsdorf because of the lack of a bridge.
The stretch along and through the Saalbach valley makes up for that.
Just a short distance through the Lußhardtwald and I was back home.

For years I have been visiting one of my former work colleagues in Schwanheim. If possible, always on a new route variant. This year I wanted to see the much-praised cycle path on the Neckar from Heidelberg to Neckargemünd. 🤣
      Pure disappointment !
First you have to drive a long time from the city center to the Ziegelhäuser Bridge on the sidewalk against the traffic. This is actually 1.5 m wide in good places.
Then comes the longed-for 'New Cycle Path', separated from traffic. The road surface is not new and changes frequently. At least it is.
When you arrive in Neckargemünd, your own traffic light has been set up to change the side of the lane.
But there is no continuation of the wheel track - nothing - nada! You are forced to drive on the street.
You can really forget that! Although it's not better on the other side of the Neckar!
So on through Neckargemünd to the market square and then to Dilsberger Straße. There is only the bike path on the sidewalk here.
In Rainbach I made a detour past the Lochmühle.
The ascent up to the Sotten and on through Haag to Schwanheim takes forever.
As a reward there was great apple pie and coffee!
Way home: this time I chose the route past Michelsee and through Reichartshausen home.

The tour to Ottilienberg mostly runs on beautiful, wide bike paths. Most of the way stations can be seen from the highlights. For physical satiety you can choose something convenient in Eppingen, Kürnbach or Flehingen.
Of course, there are always nice resting places on this tour, mostly with prospects for a break.

Small MTB round from Östringen via Zeuten to Pfannwaldsee. Continue through the Odenheim forest to Menzingen. If you are hungry, you can strengthen yourself in the Weierbach settlement.
From Menzingen it goes on the bike path to Tiefenbach to Kreuzbergsee. Passing the Eichelberg sports field, the road leads down to the Mönchsee. From Odenheim it goes over the mountain, past the Gallus house back to Östringen.

After my last Kraichgau hill tour, there was a flat tour as a contrast. As a starting point, I and my colleague Bernd chose the Park & Ride car park in Lorsch.
The cycle paths in Ried in Hesse are usually concreted. These are easy to drive on with wide tires. However, the plates are often broken and dangerous.
However, the bike path along the Weschnitz from Wattenheim to just before the NPP is particularly recommended. This is new and exemplary. An asphalt like on a roller skating rink.
The Biebesheim winter dike is also wonderful and very pleasant to drive on.
The path from Stockstadt over the Kühkopf-Knoblochsaue is a very beautiful section and worth a visit.
A visit to the port of Gernsheim should not be missed.
A pleasant tour that you should have done at least once or only in parts.
The pure driving time was 4h45.

On the hip sunny day, I planned a trip to the Kraichgau. First I took a look at the spa gardens in Bad Langebrücken. In contrast to the park in Bad Mingolsheim, this is 'Tote Hose'!
We continued past the Eisenhut memorial stone to Heidelsheim. Then Neibsheim and Büchig. From the intersection of the district roads, a new cycle path was laid in the direction of Bauerbach next to the district road.
Continuing in the direction of Flehingen, you cross the high-speed route Mannheim-Stuttgart.
In Flehingen you should plan a visit to the moated castle.
Zaisenhausen and Sulzfeld are the next places.
In Eppingen I wanted to see the work in the Gatenschaegelände. Since the show has been postponed for a year, they still have some time.
Over the hills it went past Adelshofen to Hilsbach. The old town in Hilsbach has a special charm and a lot to look at.
The next destination was the viewing platform on the Eichelberg. A wonderful view of the south of the Kraichgau.
The way back through the Angelbachtal is very nice, but if you've driven it so often, you don't look at anything anymore.
A beautiful tour that is exhausting at 1000 m. The prospects are fantastic when the weather is right.
Today the wind was gracious - thank you!

Today was the geographic tour between Guttenbach and Neckarzimmern in the GPS. The journey from Helmstadt kept the entire route within limits. Today was one hour for the photos and 15 minutes for the rest of the total driving time.
I've always wanted to go to Margarethenschlucht, but that's not a recommendation for cyclists. The passages are sometimes very, very narrow and some climbs have steep steps. The path between Neckargerach and Binau should only be used by hikers!
As a former glider pilot, the Schreckhof was well known to me, this time the visit was by bike.
The drive through the Nüstenbachtal is actually mostly monotonous, as the valley is barely visible.
The view on this tour was mostly very good and the paths in the forest were dry.

The idea for this tour originally came from a tour by Gerda M.
My tour colleague Bernd and I know the standard routes in the Vorderpfalz and on the Weinstrasse. We wanted to drive on a route with as little use of public roads as possible from Speyer to Neustadt and on to Herxheim. The way back leads via Bellheim and Lustadt. The parking lot at the Festhalle Dudenhofen is a good starting point.
The R58 cycle path leads directly to Neustadt, we used a few sections here. The trails on the Speyerbach are only fun during the week, on weekends there is often traffic jam when the weather is nice.
The way up to Wolfsburg is only recommended for experienced cyclists, as it is not easy to drive on due to the poor asphalt surface. In addition, the over 10% incline is very strenuous.
The view from the castle to the city is very nice!
The remains of the castle can be viewed quickly. There is enough seating to rest.
On the way back we are on the panorama path to the Dr. Welsh terraces drove. These are very nicely laid out and from my point of view more rewarding than the castle.
In the pedestrian zone in the city center we bought a snack and enjoyed it in the sun at the Elwentritschenbrunnen. Out of the city it goes uphill again. First of all, you will be rewarded with a view of the Hambach Castle.
In the direction of Kirrweiler we drove on farm roads through the vineyards along the wine route.
From Kirrweiler, the Südpfalz cycle path leads south. On this it went on to Offenbach. Then we followed the L542 towards Herxheim.
Visiting the fountain on the main street was compulsory.
Continue to Bellheim past the large wind turbines across the fields.
You can quickly reach Lustadt through the Bellheim Forest.
The path of the draisinenbahn follows to Westheim.
The rest of the way continues on farm roads to Dudenhofen.

      Another long planned tour!
Since it had rained until ten in the morning, I only started at twelve in the direction of the Helmstadt train station.
The first stretch to the TECHNO Park via Asbach was dry and it went quickly!
From the gravel road in the Kirstetter valley, I got really tired of it, despite the slow drive.
From Diedesheim I rode the Elz cycle path up to just before Auerbach. At Dallau there was also an unnecessary diversion on a rough gravel road uphill!
Through Auerbach it went along the stream of the same name to the Auerbachsee. The scales were paved and dry.
Then came the branch to Mittelschefflenz. I drove past my aunt's old house up to the top of the forest. This is where I spent most of my school holidays.
The Schefflenztal cycle path is nicely drivable on asphalt until shortly after Allfeld. There is also a lot to explore, but then it goes lonely through the forest on damp gravel to just before the mouth.
The short stretch of motorway on the Kocher-Jagst cycle path is easy to drive.
Via Obergriesheim it then went over the heights to Gundelsheim. Here you always have beautiful viewpoints and the farm roads are very easy to drive. We continued over the weir to Neckarmühlbach. There are few alternatives to the district road to Siegelsbach - unfortunately.
Siegelsbach - Wagenbacher Hof - Forsthaus - Flintsbach - Helmstadt station! That went quickly again!
Pure driving time 4h15 with an average of 19.5 and measured 950 hm.
Can be driven with a touring bike and wide tires!
But taking photos for the geo project is fun and time-consuming.

Today I wanted to go to the area between Hochhausen and Zimmerhof. The journey from Rauenberg was too far for me, so I started at the Neckarbischofsheim-Nord S-Bahn stop. I already know the way to Hüffenhardt, but then it went on to the 'Great Forest'. This was still passable despite the wetness. Passing the Haßmersheim quarry, it went in the direction of the Neckar near Neckarmühlbach.
Here my destination was the castle of the German Greifenwarte - Guttenberg Castle.
At least three school classes crowded at the entrance 😒
Since I have already seen the air show several times and have already enjoyed a knight's meal, I can move on quickly.
Over the fields on the heights near Heinsheim we went to Zimmerhof. Here you can see the golf course, the Römersee and the Villa Rustika.
I've also driven home several times via the Wagenbacher Hof - so nothing special.
Today it was overcast and fresh - but the desired geographical photos have been taken.
