Actually, another day was planned in the Sankt Andreasberg bike park today. The right weather was announced for this. In fact, the wind was blowing quite violently (which can be very uncomfortable when jumping), and a nasty drizzle spread at an uncomfortable 14 degrees (which is so sweaty sitting in the chairlift is not much fun). So we decided to do a little tour again. The plan was to ride the enduro trail down from Glockenberg again, which we rediscovered six weeks ago. But unfortunately the forest completely destroyed it, and we had to carry the bikes through the dense undergrowth to the next forest highway. The rest of the tour was very nice - with the enduro trail in the bike park as the grand finale.

The first day at the Sankt Andreasberg Bike Park was a lot of fun. However, there was such a rush at the lift that we had to queue for a long time. So we thought we'd better go on a tour on Sunday and pedal up the mountain ourselves for a change. The weather didn't want to play along at first, but in the afternoon the rain gradually subsided. Our goal was the Wolfswarte, which we had last climbed in 2009 - back then still in bib shorts and a few pounds lighter than today, but with narrow-tyred XC bikes and an immature riding technique. This time it was a bit more leisurely than then over a bland gravel climb up, but with all the more fun on a S2 / S3 trail down, which is quite demanding due to the wetness. At the summit we met a nice photographer who willingly took a revival photo of us, and the view was just as beautiful as it was back then. The Dammgraben then brought us - peppered with some mining highlights - comfortably and always facing the sun back to Altenau. A wonderful tour that we will definitely do again.

With the Trailground Brilon, a beautiful area for mountain bikers has been created in the Sauerland, which can be used free of charge at any time of the year. Compared to the Rabenberg Trail Center, it is much easier to ride and therefore also suitable for beginners. But also fun for advanced riders who want to enjoy beautiful views, flowing uphill trails and one or two table footballers. Allegedly the round should have 505 hm (plus a few extra meters up the Bielstein), but Komoot claims it was significantly less. On the passage from Willingen to the Harz Mountains, it was exactly the right mix of climbing and jetting down for us. Now we are curious to see what is on offer around Sankt Andreasberg.

When we go to our old home once a year, we like to take the bike and trail parks in Winterberg, Willingen and Brilon with us as we drive past. This time we concentrated on Willingen, as some of the routes there were new or rebuilt and we wanted to admire the Hochheide in full bloom at the beginning of September. This recording is representative of three very nice days with great experiences and a lot of "airtime".

After the last attempt to visit our old home literally fell into the water six weeks ago, we made the second attempt at the weekend. Since the focus was on spending time with the family and cycling is out of the question on the Ahr, we only did a little lap on the Rhine and up to the Birgeler Kopf. As a child I didn't find anything there, but since I've been living in Dresden on the Elbe, I've been more and more impressed by the breadth of "Father Rhine" with its many large tankers.

Actually, we're not TV athletes, and we don't drink the sweet fizzy drink that is supposed to give you wings either. But when Red Bull broadcasts a Downhill World Cup race redbull.com/int-en/events/uci-mountain-bike-world-championships-val-di-sole, we hang in front of the box with enthusiasm. Today the world champion will be crowned on an extremely difficult route in Val di Sole. Whoever wins here can wear the white jersey with the rainbow stripes for one year. Before we started, we drove a lap through the heather ourselves in wonderful weather. As a reward at the end there was a vegetarian kebab with falaffel from the best and most hard-working Turkish man in Dresden. Now quickly under the shower, and then the party can begin 🥳

Today it took us two attempts to get going. Just as we were about to leave, it started to rain hard. So first lunch, a little digestive break, and then let's go again. We actually stayed dry from above, but of course not from below. The wide tires also contributed to this. After all, there was not much going on on the way, so we could enjoy the descent at the Maixmühle and comfortably cycle up the Helfenberger Grund. Nice short lap ...

The mountain bike magazine published a tour on Komoot that we had to try out today. Since we like to start circular tours below, I moved the starting point, but left everything else as it was. Especially the moat paths, which we explored on our first visit to the area almost 15 years ago, seemed promising. Since they are very narrow and heavily frequented by hikers, we started relatively late in the day, and in fact we hardly met anyone. Technically, only the last section was a little more demanding, otherwise a largely comfortable lap with some beautiful views. The only thing I would not want to do again - or at most in the other direction - is the steep ascent in Hahnenklee. We like to build such sections, but they were definitely too long for our strength. And pushing is not really possible 😏
