A Paris to Bordeaux Classic

Cycling Through a Pandemic is a project sharing the stories and perspectives of cyclists from ten countries around the world, who embarked on journeys in their home countries during the pandemic. This is Anthony Richelot's story.

For over a hundred years, Bordeaux to Paris has been a well established route for cyclists, passing through the spectacular central and southwestern regions of France, and is often considered to be one of the best classic bike races in Europe.

This was the kind of journey that we really wanted kick off with as our first group trip with the Mobile Cycle Club. Despite the ever-changing restrictions in France of March 2020 (not to mention weather), we decided to set a date and go for it!

Rather than follow the same route exactly, we mixed it up by flipping the direction to start from Paris, and rerouted to avoid the cities along the way to explore more of the rural landscapes of the tranquil La Beauce region.
