Summits in Münsterland — cycling in the Baumberge hills

Are you looking for summit views in Münsterland? There are plenty here, even if the air doesn't really get thin. The Baumberge hills, located to the west of Münster in a magnificent park landscape, will surprise you with beautiful views over the colourful landscapes. Especially from the Westerberg, where the Longinus Tower provides a magnificent 360-degree view over Münsterland to the Ruhr or the Emstal regions.

The Baumberge area is unique with its hilly profile, abundance of springs and watercourses, magnificent castles and appealing towns. It’s no wonder the towns and villages of the Baumberge are often used as film and photoshoot locations. In the process, the most prominent sight of the region always slips into the picture for everywhere here you’ll see the sandstone that has been quarried for more than a thousand years. It decorates magnificent churches, proud town houses, monuments and sculptures.

We have put together six wonderful cycling Tours for you to discover this beautiful region. You don't even need your own bike, because there are many rental shops locally. The Tours are between 18 and 36 kilometres (11 - 22 mi) long and give you plenty of time and opportunity to enjoy the landscape, discover the sights and get to know the people.

And the best thing? All the Tours are suitable for families. The Baumberge has a wide range of tourist attractions that are great for adults and children alike. These range from bike rides for the whole family to the large selection of pony and riding farms, visits to open-air or adventure pools, and open-air theatres with a repertoire for young and old.

You’ll find attractive accommodation and inviting inns and other places to stop for refreshments everywhere in the Baumberge. But it is especially nice to bring a picnic and take a break in one of the beautiful parks, at a historic mill or on the slopes of one of the golden yellow and green dotted valleys.
