Hopfensee, Allgäu und Tirol

The plan on the occasion of our last tour in Ostallgäu was to ride the bikes on the Forggenseeschiff to the dam and continue the tour from there. In view of the long line of people at the jetty, we decided to cycle the entire tour, a good decision.

After crossing the border at the old barrier to Pinswang in Austria last June Corona was prohibited with a fine of several thousand euros, we drove this demanding, steep route today. Once at the top, we rested on our favorite bench on Fürstenweg and enjoyed the great view of Pinswang before we head back via Füssen.

Visiting a childhood friend from Gelsenkirchen who has lived in Upper Bavaria for many years. He and his wife showed us and explained the region around Bendiktbeuern on a bike tour together. A beautiful day!

We like to ride the cross-border Zirmgrat cycle tour via Füssen, Vils / Austria and Pfronten, as it leads through a wonderful landscape and is i. d.R. not overrun. Of course you meet cyclists, but it is not uncomfortably crowded.

Magical Tannheimer Tal, a 1,100 meter high high valley in Tyrol / Austria, according to self-promotion the most beautiful high valley in Europe. Almost always when we are at the Hopfensee, we pay a visit to this scenic gem.

There were a few inclines to overcome today. But where it goes up, it goes down again. The Seeg circuit is still nice to drive and offers a great view in many places. One of our favorite resting places is a bench on the Aufmberg road towards Seeg at an altitude of almost 890 meters.

Since the weather forecast predicted rain and thunderstorms, we left without planned navigation and without a specific destination and more or less drifted. Sometimes nice too.

From fishing, today's tour via Sonthofen went a bit along the Ostrach in the direction of Großer Alpsee Immenstadt, using the Iller cycle path if possible. In Sonthofen, cycling is sometimes unpleasant due to the lack of cycle paths and rather narrow streets.

The actual destination of today's tour were the three ponds near Sameister. To do this, you take well-known paths along the Forggen lake. Said ponds are beautiful biotopes and clearly dragonfly land.

On the first day of our Hopfensee vacation, we took it easy, although there were some easy vertical meters. You can hardly avoid them here.



Even if we have been coming here for 8 years, the beauty of the Allgäu landscape inspires us again and again.

The Seeg circuit was characterized by many ups and downs, but you can do it with an e-bike. A scenic route with numerous panoramic views, which also leads through the Hopfen forest. There you can refresh yourself internally and externally (lake) at Rainis Faulenseehütte, if it is not Monday :-(

This smaller tour held so many beautiful impressions in store for us. I was especially happy about the Viehscheid that happened to be there, as all of them were actually canceled.

The round tour is particularly attractive from Musau / Tyrol along the Vils to Pfronten. Partly loose ground, but it is easy to drive on.

Even smaller tours pamper the eye with an enchanting landscape. And it goes up and down here too.

The first of many beautiful bike tours through the beautiful Ostallgäu. Cyclists get their money's worth here, even though it is certainly challenging without an e-bike because of the inclines. Nevertheless, the Allgäu is a paradise for cyclists and hikers.
