This 2 days intense and wild bikepacking route goes through moutain trails which are abandoned since even the tunnels where built. I will try this summer to rediscover this long forgotten and treacherous moutain trails, which where once the only land connections between Ólafsfjörður, Siglufjörður and other parts of Iceland. I expect a lot of hike-a-bike sections and many remnants of snow and ice. Attempt this only with perfect weather forecast, gears for an overnight alpine stay, and very good skills of the local topography.
Most of the mountains trails here have been abandoned since almost a century, few segments are only remaining, and some of the highest parts look like the trail no longer exist.
